old plugs and loud alta intake

For the last few months my intake seemed to be getting louder and developing a wheewheewhee sound at light throttle and low rpm. I wasn't sure if it was just me or actually happening, but either way it was getting embarrassing and I was considering putting the stock box back on. I have also needed to replace my plugs with colder ones for the pulley, but for some reason I haven't been able to get very good service from mini retailers, that is a whole different story. Anyway, I finally couldn't wait anymore and picked up some autolite plugs just to try and reduce some of the pinging. Turns out that all my intake problems were coming from worn plugs. I can barely hear the intake whoosh and the oscillating noise is completely gone. The car now drives great and I can't wait for the densos to arrive to see if the ecu will give me back even more timing. It makes sense now, but at the time I thought it was a bad bypass valve or programming. I love when it's something easy. Long post, but maybe this will help someone else.
