Water to air intercoolers

I am very interested in the water to air intercoolers offered my Mini-Mania and Mini Madness. Living in Georgia where it is in the 90s for much of the summer I think my car could really benefit. Any comparisons or experience out there?

Spyke in Dallas has the Madness

I am also looking into the AW,. but vs AA. you can go to www.metroplexmini.org and look up threads by Spyke, as he has the madness AW and rants about how great it is for him. He does alot of tracking as well. What is thrilling to hear about his system is he has an older version and the new version is more efficient.

I couldn't find one bit of info on the mania AW. They have no links, no nothing, so I am guessing it is quite new or they just don't want to post a link to their mfg.

But then one has to question what you want out of it other than it is hot throughout the south. Everybody kept pointing me to webb's site as he did his usual great job and made suggestions as to what type of system to what type of driving you plan on doing.

I put my decision off so I can put the money to wheels and tires.

these units have front mount radiators and pumps to keep the fluid moving. the unit from Mini Madness with a flow of 8 gpm looks particularly good.

Well I don't think you need a W-2-A type intercooler...

A bigger A-2-A would be addequate.. try to top our summer heat at 45+ degrees celcius
maybe around town it would be ok but on a track it might suck since it wouldn't benefit from the high velocity air as much..

Why change a simple setup to a complicated one that you would have to look out for. The water pump could get damaged and not to forget the plumbing is all over the place. How would you guys get it registered?

I've tracked my car in the heat and it wasn't bad at all... will see how my new intercooler copes.. and don't tell me to log anything... not that interested to read the difference, feeling it is enough

I know that there are differing viewpoints on this item. And it's not an intercooler.

Perhaps you can ask Scott if he and Ben didn't notice some intercooler cooling benefits from the 180 degree thermostat we put in my car last year. Of course the IC is still stock, so the only advantage was from reducing heat soak effects while stopped (or at an auto-x after a run on a hot day). I installed it last August and it worked fine all winter.

Once the car gets rolling, the stock IC actually works pretty well.
