Update from GIAC/UNichip/codes thread

This is an update from the GIAC/380/19% thread that got quite long.

The codes are gone. Hector changed the complete bypass valve and the two sensors (t-map etc) replaced a few of the OEM clamps and the codes are gone. The dealer (Global) told me I needed a new ECU for $1600 and this would not have fixed anything . Randy Webb, Hector and Joseph from R Speed really came through for me as well as Scott Grandfield . I can't stay out of the car. I have driven about 300 miles in the last two days and am heading to the country this morning for another 150. It is really running great. Randy did a remap of the UNichip and it seems very strong. My gas mileage has gone up from 19.? to 25.? The suspension is,..... well suspending and the BBK is braking and I'm loving it.

As far as the GIAC/UNichip , If you read the thread you will see that I think it is best to drop the comparisons etc. I am taking the car in for a dyno in the next week or so. I am hoping for about 200 whp.....we'll see. I have an appointment with Hesco in Birmingham, Al. for a "custom" Unichip tune. I would like to get the most out of the $ I have spent on mods. I am going to start a thread on water to air intercoolers like the ones offered by Mini-Mania and Mini Madness.

The car is turning into what I had in mind when I started this project and I am a pretty happy/proud Mini owner for the first time in months. Thanks to all who have contributed and supported me in this journey

Bob

Great news Spider. So your sensors were bad but you dont know why? Did you have the unichip checked out? Glad to hear the car is running again.

I don't know why......I actually think the the bypass valve was the culprit. Randy checked out the Unichip when I sent it to him to remap and the car is running strong.

Spider,

Forgot you put the head/cam in. Are you done with break-in? How is it?

Head and cam are in, broken in and running strong. I am going to dyno in the next few weeks. I'm hoping the "real" numbers are in line with my "butt" numbers.

I have no basis for comparison except what i remember befor and then after. I don't know what and extra 10 hp feels like when you are going from say 180 to 190. This is a learn as I go proposition. I'm hoping for 200whp......we'll see. Even though the truth be told I don't know why that is my magic number. I can't quantify that to a certain 0-60 or 1/4 mi. time or seconds off the autox or any of that stuff. I just like the way the car growls and goes.......yeah I know, immature but finally
