Drivetrain GIAC Install?

GIAC Install?
I've searched and searched and haven't found a clear answer.
Is the GIAC a flash upgrade or do you have to send in your ECU (wouldn't be for me then) and wait for it? If it's flash - do cables come with it or are they extra? I'm teetering between GIAC and MTH, but would prefer the support and reported results of the GIAC right now. However I will not be sending out my ECU without the capability of putting it back to stock if needed.
