Drivetrain K&N Air Filter and Cold Air Intake
K&N Air Filter and Cold Air Intake
I have an 05 Cooper with CVT. Some say that most of the Cold Air Intakes don't fit well with the CVT. True? Also, what is the benefit of the $49 K&N air filter? HP? Mileage? Sound? Thanks for you advice.
Well, we tried adding a K&N when we were doing dyno runs on a friend's cooper S... we did one run with the stock paper filter, one with a K&N, and one with no filter at all.
They were all pretty much the same... the benefit of the K&N is its ability to handle the dirt better than the stock paper filter, and the fact that you can wash it and keep it helps a lot. The air flow of a CLEAN stock paper filter compared to the K&N is pretty much the same.
I'm not sure about the cold air intake fitments... I don't know much about Cooper aftermarket products.
Hope this helps!
