Unplug battery when adding mods to Mini?
I've read the how-tos on some of these aftermarket part installs and they all mention unplugging the battery. I'm assuming this is to reset the ECU. Is this necessary? I unplugged my battery when I installed my CAI. The shop didn't unplug the battery when they installed my pulley. Furthermore they suggested not to unplug the battery because it's better for it to "learn" your driving style. Any suggestions?

I do this every time I add a part on my car - its more for the 'placebo effect' then anything else...
but the benefits, in theory, state that if you burn the headlights while the positive connection from the battery is removed, you will drain the capacitors out from the electrical system of the car - thus causing you to "start fresh" each time you mod
take it with a grain of salt i suppose - its up to you, but you KNOW that its never a bad thing to do it, at most it would simply be pointless!
