Who Has a Dinan CAI? A Question For You...
I spoke to the tech people at Dinan yesterday and they told me that the filter in the Mini CAI should be replaced every ten to fifteen thousand miles. It looks exactly like a K&N cotton-gause filter to me (with the exception of the color) but they told me that you are not supposed to oil and clean them like a K&N. At $69.99 a pop, that may get a little expensive. So was the guy I spoke to on crack or is this correct?

I looked on the K&N website but I couldn't find anything with the correct flange angle and offset. I don't need one yet - the unit is brand new and hasn't been installed on my MINI yet. I am just looking at future options. I might see if I can adapt an Alta filter to the Dinan box.
Does anyone know if the Dinan works better than say, the Alta CAI?
I like the look of the Dinan, but does it perform? I've heard such mixed reviews about Dinan products, I'm not sure what to believe

Personally, I think their parts are great. There are some naysayers on this board, but I haven't had a problem. I also like the fact that my car can break, and I won't have any hassles with getting it fixed at the dealer. With Alta or anything else (besides JCW), your probably going to have some difficulty.
