Drivetrain Which Cat for OBX headers
Which Cat for OBX headers
Hi there I’m looking to get the OBX headers for my Mini R53. I wish to run a new cat and not use the stock one and was wondering what sort of cats will plug and play with the new headers and connect to a regular cat back exhaust. I know OBX sell a cat specific to the R53 but it doesn’t come with the post cat o2 sensor bung and I’m not really looking to do my own fabrication. Could I instead just get a standalone Miltek cat? Let me know what you think, cheers.
Yes, you can run any CAT that will have the sensor bung you need. Just double check the bolt patterns. And I believe the Miltek is fine.
But be advised, anything but OEM will give you a code, and O2 spacers have been hit and miss as far as working to eliminate the problem.
Honestly you're just better off running the OEM CAT, no headaches with codes, and performance loss it's negligible at best.
