Flywheel to replace or not?

My clutch begin to slip then realise that the back crank seal has leaking bad and the clutch was on her end of life. Then I noticed some heat spot on the flywheel. If this was a single mass I would have it resurfaced but is this DMF better be replace or is it ok and I shoudnt worry about slippering with the new clutch?

Best practice is to just replace them. Those dual-mass wheels don't have much meat in the friction area to machine them.

Yeah that's what i tought... Dont want to take the risk that the clutch be slippery becauce of the old flywheel. New flywheel ordered!

I would really like to be able to drive an SMF car to compare to my DMF R53 because I don't understand the "so smooth" comment. When I replaced my clutch last year, I agonized for days whether or not to make the conversion to SMF. I would say the clutch action and shifting in my car leave nothing to be desired, that is why I stuck with a DMF.

The dual mass flywheel (DMF) acts to dampen torsional stress of the crankshaft which among other things then helps limit the amount of stress that is transmitted to the cam drive system.

You did the right thing sticking with the DMF.
