The path air has to take to get to the filter is longer and more convoluted than with the stock intake

hard facts about the BMC CAI

even though the subject is old, but I was looking at the BMC CAI today and it looked nice in the box. after I saw it on a web site I thought different + the guy told me it will give extra 9 HP (MY @$*

) I found the official web site and here are the posting. only 3.4 hp increase on the wheels and 7 at the fly wheel. 1 NM in TQ

. For $226 just get the DDM

The intake duct above the radiator for this setup is actually covered by the hood. Although, there is airflow into it, another duct coming forward and down to the grille opening would make this more effective.
And as posted above, that is a much longer path for the air to travel, not good for business.
