billet compressor wheel

I have located a housing and billet compressor wheel kit on ebay. I was wondering if anyone has tried one? It says the back plate of the compressor housing needs machined to clearance the new larger wheel but that wouldn't be a issue for me to do. I'm sure the HP claims are exaggerated but i havn't really looked at the compressor sizes for the upgraded turbos available.

The listing claimsCustom made compressor housing and wheel for the Mini Cooper ko3 turbo.

I would also recommend out ko4 turbine shaft upgrade 44.4mm by 50mm

You ll need your compressor plate machined to fit this compressor wheel.

  • 50mm x 61 x 65mm 5+5 blade
  • Balanced Compressor Wheel
  • Good for 350 to 400hp
  • Compressor plate machining Required (easy task with lathe)
  • Turbine Housing Machining for ko4 turbine should be done also (we do offer this service as well as the shaft)
  • diverter valve can be recirculated, Please tell me in the messages at Check out if you need the diverter valve recirculated
  • Fits Mini Cooper ko3 turbo with Minor machining modification

I’d say that unless you have experience in a machine shop and building turbos, skip it and buy a completed hybrid turbo for a reputable shop.

Machining isn't a issue. And Ive rebuild a few turbo's in the past.
I was mainly worried about it maybe being a little too laggy for street use.

Not too sure about the 350-400hp, as most hybrids have billet compressor wheel are only listed to ~300-350hp at a push for the MINI 1.6 engines.

A good hybrid turbo should be similar to the original turbo and not too laggy for street use.
