Drivetrain NEW RELEASE: Dinan Stage 1 Pre-LCI B46/B48 3rd Gen MINI Performance Engine Software (
No issues. Was told it was the same box ID as our orginal development car so it was about as straightforward as it could be.
Received the reflashed DME exactly one week after sending it in. Thank you Dinan for the quick turnaround! Driving impressions? Holy ****** Batman! What a hoot! This tune beats the crap out of the old Dinantronix piggyback unit I had. Pulls hard through all gears. Power on delivery! This tune really livens up the car. Took it out on the highway and it was nothing to put it up to 120mph (with 200lb passenger, my co-worker). Unlike the stock tune, you will bang the rev limiter in 1st gear easily. It revs quickly and smoothly to redline. Did the Stage 1 tune for $499.... so far well worth it. Some notes on the R & R of the DME. It's not as easy as the F56 youtube videos show. DME sits under one of the factory firewall braces. DME will not come out until you cut it loose. Even with it loose, it still takes some effort to get it out. It's tight at the firewall and all of the plastic had to come out. Install is reverse...so not too difficult. On first startup, no CEL or any warnings at all! Love an easy mod. Long and short, with this tune, you will surprise a few people. I took a co-worker on a spin in the car. He's an 'Merican" muscle car nut. He went absolutely bonkers when I took him down our twisty 2 lane road @ 80mph and didn't even brake on the curves. He couldn't believe the power along with the handling. His idea of a Mini was cute little car with some agility, but nowhere the power this car now has. Now that RSB and chassis braces will get a real workout.....
Road tripped with the car this past weekend. Kept it to within 10mph of posted speed limit. 280 mile trip on way, averaged 33mpg @ 79mph in Sport mode the entire time.
No tuning for the LCI vehicles at present other than the DINANTRONICS X inline tuners (piggyback). Flash support for the LCI's will come at some point --- no intention to not support them.
Hi Dinan,
Any update on the LCI ( 2022 ) Software Tuning?
Nothing to speak of. Purchased an early LCI for callibration not that long ago and that is currently on the dyno. For 2021+ LCI's however the issue of encryption has yet to be solved so until the RE guys figure out a workaround its just the DINANTRONICS X option (piggyback).
Thanks!

Question, the DINANTRONICS X, does it affect MPG?
I know your Software tuning does not ( unless you drive like a maniac ) but what about the DINANTRONICS ?
I also have a question about your Exhaust for the F60.
I am very interested in buying the JCW exhaust, I used to have it on my old F56 and I loved it because it sounded really good and had 0 drone at any speed. Does your exhaust sounds the same as the JCW exhaust? What about drone? I watched some videos but is hard to tell on videos. another think I liked about the JCW exhaust was that you could hear the turbo from the exhaust ( if that makes sense ).
Any info would be appreciate it

Thanks!
Thanks Dinan!

On the exhaust front -- assuming we are talking about the JCW Pro exhaust? Assuming we are I haven't heard that exhaust in person in what seems like years so my memory is a bit hazy. The big difference though is the JCW Pro exhaust is valved whereas the Dinan one is not. Sound wise I recall the JCW being slightly deeper (although ours is pretty deep as well) but overall quieter than the Dinan exhaust. Again, the primary reason for the JCW kit would be for the valve aquisition and being able to truly do that Jekyll and Hyde transition whenever and whereever. Comes at a ~3x cost last I checked so that can cause some pause but for some that ability is very important and worth it.
Six months in with the tune and still love it. Easy to run the **** out this car. Too often exceeding the speed limit. Only real complaint is the idle was lumpy from day one. Was told as it learns my driving style it would smooth out. Has never gotten consistantly smooth. At times can be quite lumpy. Dinan, any updates to software that might address this?

Fuel economy is not something we really test for to be quite honest. Any real difference would be minimal but generally speaking on a turbocharged car the fuel economy is directly proportional to how the right pedal is used as most fuel consumption occurs when in boost (on it). If you drive the same post-tune as you did pre-tune regardless of its a piggyback or a flash tune the fuel economy should be largely unaffected. The problem is most people when they have access to more power are much more aggressive and as a result are in boost more and lower their MPG as a result. The urge to hoon is just to strong. =)

The JCW is a 2.75" cat-back, whereas the Dinan is a 2.50" axle-back, hence the price difference.
Happens all the time. Car has 41,000 miles on it. Original spark plugs. Been thinking about doing spark plugs and coil pack upgrade. Probably do that before I delve into it any deeper.....
I got my DME back yesterday and installed it today, only got a 15 mile drive drive in wet weather so I didn't want to really try it out but when I got into it for a few seconds I was very impressed. I thought I would have more exhaust pops than what my JCW tuning kit provided, maybe more time will tell.
Ready to tune!!
I am ready to do this but given my MCS is also my daily, I plan on buying a second used DME to make this process seamless. how can I get the box code from my DME without removing anything or going under the hood? Can I do this with BimmerCode/BimmerLink? Any help greatly appreciated!

2016 JCW with 20K miles, doing my maintenance + some upgrades and will pulling DME and swapping my Dinan Elite (purchased 2018) for this. Pretty awesome they have a trade-in program and as long as I do the DME removal / install myself this is an easy decision - a straight swap. Was looking around for a flash tune and this fits the bill. Car is going on my car lift this week to put on the JCW Pro Exhaust I purchased a few weeks ago, will make the swap and post back once installed and driven with the new stage 1 tune. Had no idea they had this until came across so pretty happy - FYI trade in only applies to original purchaser of the Dinan Elite. Should pair nicely with some of my earlier suspension upgrades.
