DIY Instructions for Shift ****/Boot R&R?

Looking to install a illuminated shift **** on my wife's '02 MCS. The fake leather shifter boot does not seem to be attached the way BMWs are and I also don't know if the **** itself is a snap on/off or screw type. Are there any DIY instruction, like for a SSK install that would be a help here?

This might help...just need to search in the right places

As for the OEM ****, grasp firmly and pull hard upwards while keeping your face out of the way. It's a snap in/out deal.

The only problem with this tutorial is how to remove the inner ring in step 5. When I originally followed these instructions, that was an important step that wasn't detailed, that's why I wrote my own---as referred to by MSFITOY below.

That's ok. In my case, the inner ring wouldn't come out. The outmotoring info, which I originally got from Redlinegoods.com completely skips over the removal of the inner ring. If your's came out easily, that's great, cause mine didn't. Just in case you didn't read that thread, the instructions I made are for installing the Tiburon Rubber Shift Boot and I included removal instructions as well.
