full block n18 jcw and n14 cylinderhead . HELP!

Hello good afternoon .

your forum is great!

I was looking for information on something I want to do but couldn't find information anywhere ... maybe someone of you can help me...

I bought a full jcw n18 engine. my idea is use the complete block n18 jcw and mount the cylinder head of cooper s n14

I have doubts regarding the compression ratio that could be left ... will there be any problem? . anyone know anything about this topic?

many thanks! I hope everyone is well with their family in this quarantine!

greetings from Chile!

I believe your biggest problem will be finding adapters for the wiring harness you're working with. Also, I've read that the HPFP is different, so fuel hose needs changing too. What year / model is the chassis?

As for CR, whether it's 10.0 or 10.5 won't make much of a difference. I'd be concerned about whether or not the bolt pattern and oil / coolant passages line up. If you already have the head, have you verified it'll fit --- maybe match a head gasket to both and inspect openings?

All the above is speculation. Frankly, I wouldn't touch this project unless I was really desperate. Changing what came with the chassis has been done, but not without a lot of effort and grief.

Do let us know why you are doing this and what you think you'll get out of it at the end.

If i had to guess it would be the same reason as i would want to do this.
Us reliable plebs with N18 motors see all N14 head parts and we are like WAHHHHHHHHH can i put an N14 head on my N18?!?!?!?

Have you seen RPM powers recent billet parts for the N14. Wicked!

well this is what i am basically doing so i am trying to make a "boostable" engine as economical as possible, and so the jcw n18 pistons are forged and more lightweight. i check the water and oil pipes of the block and everything fits perfectly with the cylinder head of the n14. Next week I will take the calculations to know what compression ratio will be.

On the other hand . This is not the engine of my car. My car's engine is on and I haven't touched that one. Nor will I do anything ... this project is just a game to know what can be achieved.

Thank you very much for the responses and suggestions. If someone comes up with something I will be very grateful
