Makes you think :)

I received my latest BMW owners mag today " Roundel " and they had several articles on the new mini one dealing with " modding". Let me quote one section so we can see just how on top of the Mini tuning market BMW is.

" We took our Cooper S to San Antonio before we changed anything, and David Greenwood at Rhine West ran it on his chassis dyno. He measured a peak of 155 at the REAR wheels, reasonably close to the Mini's 164 rated hp. After installing the pulley ( 15%) and air intake ( alta ) we took it back again and David measured 195 hp, a 40 hp increase! If we correct our first readings to the factory-rated 164 and add 40 hp, we now have over 200. Amazing "

Now I dont know which I find more amazing a rear wheel drive Cooper S or 40 hp from a 15% pully and CAI Just imagine the people reading this article and actually beleiving it.

Plus, wasn't the factory rating 163 hp (not 164)? I guess nothing surprises me these days...

YIKES! That is so annoying to read about! Rear-wheel drive, indeed! What a tool! Tee hee!

The article is shamefully full of errors and mis-information.

Sad thing is, that tuners are selling kits like this to unsuspecting customers claiming their pulley and intake gives 200hp. Hopefully fwhp.

I think most of us around here realise there are lies, damn lies, and performance claims. I have to say that we MINI folks are very demanding for concrete numbers before we bolt something into our cars.
