Drivetrain Oil pressure gauge retrofit
After changing my oil this weekend for the fist time I came to the conclusion I really want a working oil pressure gauge.
I like the BMP gauge but at $359 it is just too hard to swallow. A quick look at the Summit Racing catalog and the same single oil pressure gauge is $54 and a mounting cup is $9. If you have added a separate oil pressure gauge please reply back on the difficulty and hurdles.
If someone could put together a nice looking working oil pressure gauge package for $100 I would buy that (hint hint Joe)

I called to order the BMP oil pressure & temp gauge cluster on 11/26 and they told me that it will be available in mid-January... Only the S version with the boost gauge is available now.
If anyone has already mounted aftermarket oil temp/pressure gauges, please post info about it... thanks!

i did the summit racing autometer ultralite 2-1/6 electronic gauges; check out this thread about halfway down the page; you may find something useful for your single gauge application.

The autometer mounting cup is a thin walled steel cup with a slot along one side; you slip it over the gauge, let the wires stick out of the slot and use a provided band clamp to grip the cup and squeeze it on the gauge. The band clamp attaches to a bracket which is intended to screw to your dash.
In my case, i used a scheme similar to the BMP design. Each gauge has two threaded studs on the rear. The bracket I made was from 1/8" steel with the bracket gauge ends accepting the studs and the bracket center attaching to the screws holding the cover on the back of the tach (and speedo in my case, with the nav) The bracket at the gauge end also has to be cut to clear the exiting electrical wires and bulb on the gauge, and thin enough so the cup, a separate part, can be slipped over the gauge and bracket from the rear. The Autometer gauge cups have a slot for this purpose. Friction holds the cup onto the gauge/bracket assembly.
As I pointed out in the other post, BMP makes a great product and the more than earn their cost for dealing with all the issues for you. In my case, I wanted three gauges and had the nav, so custom was the way.
