ECU and related components.... keeping stock and swapping out back-and-forth.

Simple question... for those in the know.

Looking for experienced answers.

This is about a 2011 Mini Cooper-S LCI, which has the N18 engine that year.
There is NO warranty remaining on the car.
NOTE: This is NOT for odometer purposes.

Can 2 different ECU's be swapped back and forth in this car?

Are there other control modules or embedded chips in the car that must also be used in conjunction with the ECU?
Maybe because those modules also 'sync' to the ecu/modules, etc.... and the car will not work that way?
Do speedo and tach 'sync' .... that must also be "paired" to ECU/modules?

Easy to find ALL parts at the wrecking yards and buy all donor parts that are needed from one car... and use it on mine...
EG... ECU/Modules, speedo, tach etc.

Can the ECU be cloned to another used ECU?

If yes... can that cloned ECU be used in the car, that is, swapped back and forth?

are you swapping LCI with LCI?

in general, you could swap anything. some modules require coding to match the car options.

for the ECU to work, as you said, it MUST be cloned and reset. be careful not all N18 engines are the same. the difference is in the HPFP and so is the wiring to the ECU. So, if you match engines, you could clone that ECU back and forth. let's say one is tuned and the other one is not.

Mileage is not something that can be easily changed. However, pay attention to the instrument cluster (the small one). I made a mistake swapping my ECU/CAS onto another car with higher mileage and that became my new mileage when i swapped back the set :(

Yes... LCI to LCI ... SAME YEAR...SAME CAR... SAME MODEL...SAME ENGINE.

Besides the ECU.... What would I need to swap from say another car, to have all working with ZERO coding to turn the key and have it run just like the car it was pulled from?

What, in total, is coded to the ECU and other modules that must work in concert?

ECU

Modules
Speedo
Tach ??
