Which direction does the clutch face?

If anybody has installed the Spec clutch/flywheel setup Randy Webb sells (or a similar product that has a clutch with anti-****** springs), I have a simple install question for you:

Do the springs face the flywheel (my guess) or the pressure plate (might impede actuation)? I can't try it out for myself as the tranny isn't out yet, but a definitive answer from somebody who knows would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
David

it will be obvious; if you dry fit the disc only, it can only contact the flywheel surface if installed correctly.

Thanks! I figured as much from other discussions I've had, but since I'm not doing the work myself, I wanted to be educated

Speaking of which, jlm, when you did your LSD install, did you need to shim the Quaife? Like the clutch direction, it may be something that can be determined at install time, but I'm not installing that either, and I'd like to know My gut says "nope", since it seems supported precisely by the big bearings on either end, which have a fixed placement in the tranny housing...

If the shimming answer is "yes" or "maybe", for my education, why?

Cheers,
David

This post doesn't make sense. If it's dry fitted correctly it is supposed to make contact with the pressure plate and the flywheel at the same time. When the diaphragm springs are not depressed this is when the clutch is fully engaged. For the disc to make contact with only one surface would mean that it would bend too much once installed in the transmission and cause uneven wear...
