MyPocketRocket,

Thanks for the sound clips.
Idle sounds low and throaty- Nice
High revs are a little raspy but OK and not unlike other MINI exhausts
Interior noise is good.
Pass by is nice, not loud
Take off is very nice

Overall I'd class it as moderate noise not too loud. Similar to UUC and probably less than Borla Race. You'd need to listen in person to get the full effect.

A note on hangers- If you rely on only the two outer muffler hangers to carry all of the exhaust weight you are taking a chance. Two hangers on each side are better and allow for some safety in case you have anything happen to the outside hanger (the rubber part unhooks from either the hanger or the muffler). The four total hangers also allow for good alignment that doesn't wiggle and get offcenter from bumps or from aggressive cornering.

Thanks for posting the sound clips and photos! I've been looking into getting an exhaust from them after seeing them on 350Z's. Very nice build.

Wonder if it fits on my 2005 Cooper S?

scott_roberts,

It won't fit 2004 up because of the new hangers.

Richcarroll,

You can find it on ebay or email revtuners@charter.net for the info to purchase.

minihune,

I have to say that I did push to much throttle on the revving sound clip. I did all the way to 6500RPM. The sound is much more deeper and lower tone with some burbling if I only half throttle.

For the hanger issue, I just email revtuners@charter.net to see if he has the 2004 model in stock or what he could do to help that issue. I agree with you that only 2 hangers on both ends would not do 100% securing job. What would be your recommendation to do? I'm planing to bring the car to muffler shop to see what they could do.

tips are aligned very well for only using 2 of the 4 hangers! that's quality for you. i agree with uaemini that the build is better than even the UUC kit. i think this may be the exhaust i get. think i'll call Eric@Helix13 to set up an install and dyno run how about that!!

I thought I read somewhere (a different exhaust thread) that all you have to do is heat the hangers with a torch and twist them 90 degrees.

The pic earlier seems to look like that's correct. I've never worked with stainless steel - can't you just heat it like you can regular steel?

You can, but if you aren't careful you can easily burn some of the 'stainless' out of it.

Thanks for the picts. man, I really like that tone and look!

With that much clarity in the tone, need to work on that clutch
engagement, huh? hehe

His clutch engagement was perfect... not too much clutch so it won't die on him. These minis seem as though they need to be babied when launched just like an AWD.. seems to work better than dropping it

Things could be different at a drag strip.. has anyone tried both ways with a big difference in times?

Anyway, great videos!! nice bright pics too
Still find that you should have more distance between the tips... can it be adjusted? I'm sure it can.

uae- Actually, I was referring to the 1-2 slip, but my comment was
intended jokingly (with a wink). Im sure he can engage without
slipping those gears.

now, back to the hot exhaust.

I agree with the Take-off clip. I did drop the clutch funny there. ...need more practice..plus 15% pulley would help.

Actually 2 inside hangers are squeezed with those hanger attachment, so that help the exhaust to stay center a bit.

discodan,

The dyno number would be nice!

uae mini,

Those tips can be adjust, but I have to do it next weekend. It's getting dark to soon these days. Need to wait for the sunny weekend.

Beautiful exhaust. Only suggestion is to buy 100% stainless steel hardware to go with it. That stuff shown in the bag doesn't look like stainless to me.

nice!!! If I were you, I would touch up the welds with engine enamel paint.
The welds tends to rust.
