Cravenspeed Short Shifter with OEM **** and boot

Hi, I just finished installing Cravenspeed Short Shifter but can't seem to "lock" the OEM **** onto the Short Shifter.
I slid the **** and boot down the new shifter but it gets stuck somewhere along the way and does not go all the way up to reach the horizontal lock bars...
Could someone with this setup please give me some pointers? Thank you.

It seems to gets stuck at where the black plastic piece gets wider on the shifter and can't go further. There is still some space in between the tip of the shifter and the horizontal bars inside the ****... The widest part at the bottom of the black plastic looks like its at least as wide as the shift **** hole, if not wider. Does it just require more force? Or is there something I'm not aware of?

I just did this too and had the same issue. I have a r52 with the craven and bought the same **** as you off of a forum member.. You just have to push down harder. The tolerance between the black plastic and **** is tight. However one shitty part is that when the **** is on all the way, There is about 1mm of wobble up and down. Its very irritating when shifting!

I plan to take mine off again and maybe twist the black part up a bit or add some aluminum foil or something at the top of the shifter to try and get rid of the gap.

Craven needs to work on tolerances. The ball that sits horizontally on the arm below has a lot of slop in it with the plastic bushing. I actually had to rapid prototype a new bushing to get rid of the slop it introduced on my r52.

That is because the stock JCW shift **** will not fit onto the craven speed. Sadly the website says it will fit stock shift ***** on the main header but if you scroll down you will see.

"A Note About F56 JCW Cars: Our Adjustable Short Shifter DOES work on the F56 JCW, but the JCW stock **** is currently incompatible."

I also had the same issue when purchasing it and ended up buying the one they make and it is very nice.

My car is not JCW tho, it's an F56S. I had plans to buy their shift **** but am now reconsidering if it indeed does not fit stock *****; it feels as if we're forced into it.

You're not forced into buying their ****, although it is a nice one. They are available from Whalen Shift Machine, Sneed4Speed, and others. If you use the threaded shaft it opens up even more possibilities, like http://www.flameball.com for example.
Personally I didn't care for the stock **** anyway, but everyone has their own preference.

Thanks, Vet. I meant forced into using an aftermarket ****. I don't care for the stock **** either but it had a lower priority on my list. I just purchased an exhaust last week and am planning to get ECU tune once the exhaust arrives and is installed so need to watch spendings.

I was deciding between Cravenspeed and Raceseng ***** tho.

Well, as it turns out they (CS or retailer, not sure who) sent me the wrong shifter kit. Kellen said a replacement will be delivered to me tomorrow. IMO Kellen handled the situation quite well. Unfortunately, that doesn't change the fact that I have to take apart my car again.. I love working on my car but this is the 3rd time in the past few days that I had to take it apart... the prerequisite for getting to the shifter is so time-consuming..

Lesson learned: even if a retailer is 100% sure you got the correct parts after back and forth mail and picture exchanges/confirmations, always try to double check with the manufacturer...

I'll probably get Raceseng too. Wife prefers Raceseng over CS.

It does get a little warm. On hot days, I just put a little towel on it.

Its never hot enough to where you cant touch it. They do have a textured version that shouldnt get hot. I just liked how the silver one looked

does the raceseng adapter raise the shifter **** higher than where the stock one sits?

I'm leaning toward the Slammer in satin red but considering the Slammology in black.

1) How much play does the adapter have when resting on the stock lever? (when the set screws aren't tightened)
2) Does the adapter have a groove inside so that it doesn't swivel on the stock lever when the set screws aren't tightened?
3) How many set screws are there?

Mines the Slammer so check it out in the post above.

1 - It slides down pretty much to the part before the **** starts to round.
2 - No, just screws in. I added some plumbers tape to lock it is. Mine came loose one so that helped
3 - 4 ..... Im pretty sure, maybe 2 but Im almost certain its 4

Not sure how I missed this thread before it came back up this weekend. I assume you have gotten this resolved but for anyone else in the future; if the stock **** is not seating properly it may be that the delrin adapter is not on far enough (our bad, they are assembled by hand). Always remember, we guarantee our parts to fit exactly as they should and do what they ware supposed to. We'll be sure to resolve any issues you have if you contact us.

Mine had slop with the r56 ****. I had to put some aluminum foil on top of the little fork to get it from sliding up and down a couple mm.

Craven, also, your side ball is too small for the oem white bushing, it adds some slop over stock actually.
