I like the looks of it, with the additional piece aft of the filter, no cutting of the stock piece. Also for you guys that have the Alta setup, did you go with the alta Silicone hose or stay with your stock one.

If you play with the url, you can get 2 more pictures of the intake.

RDR is a good company. The product is a reasonable one with an oversized longer filter element-hence the removed rear airbox wall. It has no provision built in for use with any front tower strut bar- so cutting is needed in the intake box and the strut bar may rub against the top middle of the air filter.

The alta cold air intake is sold with and without the silicon hose. I have seen it installed both ways. The Silicon hose comes in red or blue which adds to the engine bay color. Many of the more highly modded MINIs choose the silicon hose (smoother air flow in the hose compared to stock).

Thanks minihune, I'm not planning on running a strut brace and from what I've seen of other intakes, some also have dificullty with brace clearance, i.e BMP.

What suprised me about the hose was the fact that it does nothing to increase the HP unless an aftermarket TB is added. Big thumbs up to Alta for reporting this. I for one would have thought that the smoother air would have lead to some sort of performance improvement. It does in my line of work.
