Official 3rd Gen Dyno Thread

Seems that lately more and more people are getting down and dirty with their mini, power-wise. A few mentioned the idea of an official "dyno thread". Decided to start one up. While i would normally have placed this in the F56 forum, i didn't want to avoid F54/F55/F57 guys from posting up, since really, it's the same engine.

I welcome everyone to share their dyno graphs as they progress with their car. This thread should give people the opportunity to see what works (exhaust/intake/tune/downpipe/etc...) vs what doesn't (stickers). It'll also give everyone a chance to educate themselves when looking to purchase something. You should include the following in your post:

- Vehicle (Year, Make, Model)
- Modifications
- Type of Dyno
- Gear Used
- Description of Graph
- results (in case unreadable)

followed by a picture of your graph.

Feel free to add any notes regarding your post (technical difficulties, errors in dyno, future plans, etc).

- 2014 Cooper S (2Dr Hatch)
- Mario Downpipe, AWE Intake, AWE Touring Exhaust, ACI Dynamix Custom Dyno Tune
- Mustang AWD Dyno
- 4th Gear
- Power/Torque Graph with AFR
- Before: 176WHP / 210TQ (all mods minus tune)
- After: 206WHP / 268TQ (after tune)
- Gains: 30WHP / 58TQ

Notes: my AFR's were starting off high and dropping down to 12.6. After the tune, they were able to get me down to the mid-11's. the low-end torque feels very good. i also have a JB4 but currently disconnected while i decide whether i want to do a stacking tune or just sell it.

Don't have stock dyno here but it was around 178whp. Right within specs from factory.

Putting flex wires on Tuesday and taking to dyno for fine tuning. Bear in mind our Brazilian Podium gas has 95 octane along with 25% Ethanol on gas. So should be around 105-110 octane. That helps a little for higher output.

What octane rating system do they use in Brazil? Is it MON, RON or AKI? The US uses AKI which is the average of MON and RON.

Also rating of 95 octane with 25% ethanol is still 95 octane (of which ever rating system that is being used).

Petrobras Podium is 95 AKI which is 102 RON.

You have the good stuff down there.

Bytetronik's Stage 1 Flash (+45 WHP; +78 WTQE) w/ OEM JCW Parts

This is the dyno gragh from the JCW (w/ Auto tranny). We ran this JCW on the Mustang Dyno in AWD mode b/c we didn't want to put the car into "dyno mode".

Modifications:
  • 2015 Factory JCW Auto
  • Factory resonator removed.
  • 2 gallons of E85 mixed with a full tank of 91 Octane;
  • Bytetronik (BT) Stage 1 Flash;
  • Everything else stock

Power Output to the wheels (Not BHP!):
OEM Stock: 231 WHP / 248 WTQE
BT Stage-1 Flash: 276 WHP / 326 WTQE (~442NM)

Gains: +45 WHP; +78 WTQE

Dyno pulls were all done on the same day within 30 minutes of one another. Outside temperature was about 80-degrees Fahrenheit.

Parameters Adjusted:
  • Raised Speed limiter (VMAX)
  • Fuel Pressure raised
  • Target Lambda optimized
  • Clutch torque optimized
  • Optimum torque optimized
  • Torque monitors optimized
  • Schubblurbben (burble) parameters optimized for more bangs and pop
  • Race start (launch control) start temperature modified
  • Boost target optimized
  • Target torque optimized

F56 JCW Auto w/ Bytetronik Stage 1 Tune (gained +45WHP & +78 WTQE)

As there are many differences between dyno's, humidity, temperature, altitude, etc.... It is important to look at solely delta numbers.

Here are a few different dynos I have done on my F56.

2016 MINI Cooper S Hatchback (F56)

Run 1
Mods:
NM Engineering Intake
Muffler delete
JB4 on stock map (pass through)
Power: 202whp 270wtq

Run 2
Mods:
Full Custom 3in Intake System
Full Custom 4in to 3in Turboback Exhaust System
No JB4 (removed), Factory Map
Power: 219whp 295wtq

Run 3
Mods:
Full Custom 3in Intake System
Full Custom 4in to 3in Turboback Exhaust System
One Step Colder Spark Plugs OEM BMW
Bytetronik Custom Tuning
2gal E85 Mix w/ 91
Power: 276whp 373wtq

All the runs are on the latest DynoJet Dyno purchased in 2016 from DynoJet.
No corrections made.

On a very cold night. It will slightly start to slip. I can tell by hearing it but the RPM's barely reflect it. Looking at performance clutches and doesn't seem to be anything in the market really.

I was afraid of that. All I see is kits from brands I've never heard of that no one seems to have.

Just for the record, we think the Torque reading on this DynoJet is reading a little bit off. As much as we would like to claim the 373WTQE since it's our tune, our map is only targeting around 400NM (or roughly 295 to 300 ft-lb of torque). The "delta" in HP and Torque are in line with our testing results.

Stage-1 Gains: +45 to +57 WHP / +60 to +78 WTQE
