Drivetrain new dinan plug and play
#4
Lol nice, not sure how I missed that thread! Only issue I have is connecting my phone via bluetooth. I have the correct format on my phone (it is android), but for some reason my phone and the Dinan just will not pair with each other. Thinking I might just need a new phone to make it happen since it is about 3 years old.

Yeah that is the standard version for my phone. I am not too worried about it right now, just thought it would be nice to use in case I ever let someone else drive my car. That way I could turn it down to valet mode. I have been very please with the output of the tuner, on top of the JCW tune it is phenomenal.

Most people I heard from really like the Dinan unit.

I know that developers don't control Apple's review times, but app reviews are currently running around a day or two. Dinan's iOS developers should be asking Apple what's up; it has been months. That's just not a reasonable time to sit on a review. The only rational explanation I can think of is that Apple found an issue, or made a requirement, that requires substantial engineering time to do; that doesn't jibe with Dinan's statements about waiting on apple. So I don't think that's it.

I finally gave up on the iOS app and just did the race mode change using a cheap Android device I wasn't using.
I am an app developer and have extensive experience with the iOS app review process. I'm guessing it's the way Dinan may be interfacing with the Bluetooth stack that is holding up the review process. However, it's only a guess. If that was the case it is possible that we may never see an iOS app.
If Dinan decides to open source its specifications for reading boost and changing modes I would be happy to tinker

It's not the delay that frustrates me (much), but the lack of information.
Heh. Wouldn't that be nice!

Just put in sport + mode and be done. Having used one on my BMW a lot the thrill of the boost gauge goes away shortly on the APP. It's delayed anyways and after you get the same read out over and over when you floor it it kind of becomes data with no real value add. Yep, I hit 17lbs of boost again, yep, i hit 11lbs of boost that pull, now what, guess I'll keep driving.
If you must have it, pick up some basic $40 android thing to throw in the car and you are all set. Once in a blue moon you can switch the boost level if need be. This isn't a tune you play with or reprogram or anything, you plug it in and get on with life.

Coming from a Countryman All4s and also driving wifes 3 cylinder 4 door I thought for sure that I would be buying a chip or tune for my new old F56. After driving for a few days it seems darn fast and zippy, not sure I need anymore speed. Probably spend cash on better sound.
