You'll lose some torque on the low-end from the reduced back-pressure and your Check-Engine Light will come on. I really think the emissions are a secondary and miniscule issure, there are so many older cars running around that are gross poluters that a properly running new MINI without a cat probably runs just as clean as some rustbucket from the '80s.

A poster named lucifer asks about a "Cathalytic Conveter" and you guys don't jump on the easy joke?

I used to be a Catholic, but I got a Cathalitic Converter, and now I'm an Atheist!

(I just couldn't help myself. I'm very sorry)

You get improved high end torque as a result of less flow restriction. Good for running around the track I guess.

Depends whether you're comparing a CRP to a restricted stock CAT or a sport CAT.

A high-flow CAT should offer similar performance to a CRP. In the case of a Mini where you can't just get a CRP alone, headers with integrated sport CAT is the best bet.

Cathalytic Conveter or Catalytic Converter?

Lui,

Where I come from a Cathalytic Conveter is more like a religious convert (Catholic Convert) than an emission control devise. Gotta love that Ingles language.

p.s. Hope y'all don't suffer too much from Frances. Charley was bad enough.

I'm guessing from your post that you are not in the US. But here it is illegal to remove the CAT if you're planning to drive the car!

And I got the joke too, you just beat me to the punch

Laws are made for breaking. Otherwise, what would we do with all of the cops, lawyers, and judges?

LOL That and the question: what cop will lay down under the car and say "huh that doesn't look normal for a MINI's cat.".

Not than I'm suggesting a straight pipe...my other car is a Honda Insight (so I guess even if I did a straight pipe in the MINI, my total emissions will be about that of an SUV )

Atheists have one holiday but, what does that have to do with a cathalytic conveter?

Hey Luifer,

Welcome. I see everyone has given you a good welcome here. Don't worry about any of them, they just like to have some fun with people when they can. They will all come together for you if you need any help on anything.

One thing about not running a cat, is that it may create sparks which could cause a fire to any brush if you run off-road. But, you probably would not go off-road in a MINI.

Sorry I made you feel bad Luifer. Thanks for not making fun of me for not being able to read that your name is Luifer not Lucifer.

Welcome to NAM, and I was just making a joke. It happens all the time on the Internet.

I see that you got your question answered, so that's good.

Ok Ok
Everithing Is Fine, I Will Make Jokes Later. Hehehehe
Anyways I Was Just Wondered About The Car Without The Cat. I Did Think That I Would Get Flames Like Other Cars That I Have Seen. I Think It Would Look Cool A Mini With Flames In The Exhaust. Like In The Movie Fast And Furious.

It Is Just That The Mini Is A Cute Car And With Flames Would Be Really Wicked.
Hehehe
