Lightweight Crank Pulley...

My 04 MCS JCW is making the flapping sound at hard acceleration so, I fear the Harmonic Balancer is going. I have looked online and see the Alta and CravenSpeed Light Weight Crank Pulleys do not have the elastomeric part and state that are not needed for various reasons. Plus they are more than half the price! Does anyone have any experience with either or a different one? Positives, negatives, issues (short & Long term)...etc.
TIA

There's a lot of talk about this, and like all things internetz, there are a lot of opinions. I took my cue from the experience of Nuzzo Motorsports race team and solid crank pulleys. For them, non-dampened pulleys blew up motors. Dampened pulleys didn't.

Racing is a great incubator for car parts, they exaggerate the effects on the vehicle. It may be that if you drive like granny, you'll never experience a problem with a solid pulley, but why risk it? For what gain?
