A few weeks back I finally bit the bullet and ordered an exhaust for my r53. I spent countless hours looking over reviews and watching YouTube videos trying to find the right choice. I settled on the exhaust by Invidia and ordered it from Way Motor Works (great company to deal with, quick and reliable). I put the bad boy on this weekend and thought I would share my experience with all of you. Let me note however that I have no previous experience with other exhausts for the Mini, so take that into consideration when reading this. First off, the exhaust looks great. The finish and welds appears clean and durable. It come well packaged and protected. Putting it on was very straight forward and required no real adjusting. To add to this, it sounds very very nice. I can add a sound clip soon but for now, just take my word for it. It has a low deep burble with little to no drone at higher speeds. I was horrified at the idea of spending a good chunk of change and getting an exhaust that sounded like some Honda boy racer... Definitely not the case with this system. Obviously I'm still breaking it in but I only suspect the sound to get better. The in-car volume is easy on
the ears while still providing you with a big smile when you punch the gas. Overall, I would highly recommend the system to anyone looking for a very solid exhaust that looks and sounds great without breaking the bank.
Congrats! I'm glad you're liking the Invidia. Expect that feeling to stay with you for a while . I've had the N1 on my MINI for almost three years and love it to death! Like you said: very well made, almost plug-n-play, and a great tone w/no drone at all. It's less expensive than Milltek or WMW's Stratmosphere, but I think the Invidia is just a great piece of kit a great price. Whenever I see posts asking for input on aftermarket exhaust, I always chime in w/my love for the Invidia N1.
the n1 was my next choice over the magnaflow, I got a stupid deal on my magnaflow and the warranty is hard to beat, especially up here in NH. plus im not a huge fan of the burnt tips, but I know you can get the N1 without them. those systems sound very nice
I love how the tips look. I got lucky, my car already had an Alta catback installed when I purchased it. What's the deal with the skid plate under the tips? Is that a factory thing? If so mine is missing.

That sure makes it a lot easier. Choosing an exhaust was definitely a process. As far as I am aware, that is factory. My car has had a few other owners though, so I guess someone could have put it down there. My guess however is that it's factory. I have a 2005 so it's possible they changed the design or yours is missing.
Could be, mine is an 02, missing all kinds of stuff. Like the 02 didn't come with the manual hatch release, but the bracket to hold the handle is there. Doesn't seem to have been a smart decision on MINI'S part
