a trial upgrade chip!!!!

you know what would rock and might bring more people into the buisness of installing computer chips in their car, a trial chip upgrade much like the trial softwhare on our computers after so many days the program destroyes itself and your left with just the factory sofware so at least you can get a taste of what your buying for the heafty price tag, i dont know if its feasable but how cool just to be able to do a one time download into the car go out for a week or two and burn rubber then when their car slows down they will be so hot for it they will go and buy the program....hehehe..
you get em on the comeback!! as chris rock would say!!!

oh well just a stupid thought but id thought id share!!!

well you know just an idea but hey it could work i know my group would jump all over it, its just to some spending a couple hundred dollers to potencially have no effect is to overwhellming, this would soften the blow and install confedence in the buyer like i said just a thought!!!

I'd buy if there were a way to test. I'm on the fence until either:
a.) there's a bake-off between chips and a reasonably clear winner; and/or
b.) sufficient independent testing that demonstrates that one of 'em actually delivers.

Your solution is a reasonable 3rd option. I can go test myself if I had it in hand. I suppose if the chips were less expensive you'd see people jumping in. $700 is too much to throw away for a test.

Since the manufacturers all say your results may vary and it depends upon the car, I think a trial offer would definately be the route to go!

exzacley my point it would offer a great solution to bring in more buisness that way now ofcorse you may get a couple of people who would rather not do it since it is not what they think is acceptable gains but i think the magority of people would go for it that way people could test the chips on their own accord see if it wat they need or want then they have the choice to buy kind of like, try it out for 30 days if not satisfied send it back at no charge, i could go for it and that might be all it takes to make me do the plunge hey i think it is an acceptable and doable option~~i just think since all minis are not created equal since some are effected more than others with cetain mods then this would be a smart move for modders to be comfortable in their purchas!!

The problem with that is that a good programmer could go in and get rid of the bit of code that deletes the code after x amount of time.

well then why dont we get a good programmer to get rid of our yoyo or such since even the people who made the software can even get that strait, instead of always saying yea but we shoul say yea! its jusst that no matter what you do their will be a person out their that will crap on you, then if thats the case why dosent that someone just take the program steal it then erase the vin spacific serial # same thing, if you can make a program without a back door then your safer than without, my freinds a programmer and he makes programs then when tampered with they atomatically shut down, so thir is always a way to beat the better, oh well.

Revo and APR both offer trial software, but not for MINIs, only for VW/Audi:

I guess [insert name of popular musician/performer here] shouldn't release their CD because someone could go and dup it or rip it into an MP3 and share it with others who didn't buy it.

The world is full of these types of people who are looking for ways around systems, but it doesn't and shouldn't stop people from providing their products to the public...
