Installed my Borla exhust.

Installed my exhaust this weekend on the 04 car and took some pictures of the inside hanger change for those who are interested. The outside hangers hold the exhaust fine and there is no rattles or excessive exhaust movement without the use of the inside hangers, but I plan to bend the hanger out or fabricate a new hanger and weld it in on the exhaust muffler. Has anyone bent the inside hangers?

I put on the Borla Race last Thursday -- real happy with the fit and finish, and the way it all turned out. The car seems to be more responsive, even a bit in the handling department. I don't know if that's real or imagined, but whatever

For the first 300 miles, it seemed to be extremely loud, but it has since quieted down somewhat. Has that been your experience?

Borla Exhaust

I have had both versions of the Borla exhaust systems and was not happy with the mild system. Found the mild system was not much different from the factory exhaust system outside the tips. The aggressive system does mellow out a bit after a few hundred miles. I would imagine mine will even get a little louder after installing the header. The aggressive system definitely is not for everyone, but I like it.

snappermini,

Before you invest in an exhaust header you might want to check out other options for power gains, even an air to air intercooler (check with RDR- coming out soon).

The problem with a header is that the ones with race cat tend to offer a little power but not that much for the $900+ investment. Loudness is not always increased with these headers but can be- it depends on your cat-back exhaust.

The headers with no cat do even worse. Although lower in price they often provide no added power that is measurable on dyno, are not street legal, and might cause the check engine light to go on plus they are likely to increase exhaust loudness.

With the Borla Race exhaust you might want to just leave the header alone for now. Maybe something better will come to pass at a later time.
