K& N system

Quick question.. anyone know if the K&N brand intake system is CARB legal? If so what is the EO number?

Thanks,
Patrick

Just relaying what my parts manager told me. He has a friend that dynoed his MINI after intalling the K&N and lost 4 HP.

This was true on the Evo 8 also. K&N offered refunds to customers. I have not heard of problems with the MINI kits.

Regardless... does the EO for 2002-2003 cars with the intake extend to 2004 models?

That's shocking to read that switching to the K&N results in 4 hp less on the dyno. I hope this does not apply to the K&N drop-in filter.

Anything can happen when you do a modification to the-
intake
throttlebody
heads
cams
exhaust system
etc.

Maybe HP will show a gain, loss or nothing on dyno. You'd think that K&N would bother to do the testing but you cannot always assume the obvious.

We have had the reverse experience with the K&N Typhoon, our dyno day showed it to have an improvement over stock. That's the first time I have ever heard someone say the Typhoon made the car slower.
From an old post of mine:

The K&N Typhoon is CARB approved as of Oct 20th 2003.
You can look it up on there site.
it's Executive Order D-269-27
