Helix in the Blind

I journeyed up to Helix from Virginia yesterday. The entire process at Helix was smooth and stressfree. I like stressfree. Good operation.

I asked him to install the 19% pulley among other things. I had wondered if, in a blind test, the difference would be such that I would know without a doubt the pulley was installed. It is obvious. I had imagined before the install that I might revert to the stock size at some point. His pulley approach provides this option. I really doubt that I would want to do that.

The pulley is really noticeable, and something that a lot of new owners don't realize. They see a chip claim of 15hp or 16hp and they install it and feel very little. Most of this is because the extra hp is usually because the rev limit increased. They don't really always see the graphs showing a very solid 15hp at the wheels and the same increased torque across the entire rev range. It is very noticeable and is a great price for performance increase.

You're entirely right! It's both the 20lbs of torque (not HP) of the 19% pulley plus the fact that the torque comes on much earlier. Only the pulley mods not only give tons of torque but give it at lower RPMs. There is nothing else even close to that!

Yea, Eric is a great guy. Did he tell you that if you can beat his best Laguna Seca time on GT3 the install is free?

Obvious? From Stock to 19%? N 0 S H 1 T Vinny.

Glad you decided to take a walk on the wild side.

Now for the brakes, suspension.......

It's hard to test drive the MCS with 19% pulley upgrade "blind"
But the upgrade itself is very noticable on the street from the get-go.

I think you will decide you'll keep the 19% after you drive it around for a few days.
It's pretty bullet proof for street driving. A big bang per upgrade buck.

A difference close (not equal) to a pulley upgrade for low end rpm gains might be had with a drastic weight drop in the wheels. Going from standard 17" S-lytes to something like SSR 16" comps with light Falken tires. That's about 17+ pounds per wheel drop. You'd notice the difference on hard acceleration and braking.

Yes, an earlier change was to the Team Dynamics Pro 1 wheels and the Proxes T1S. I have used them on other cars and I like them. Noiser than the predecessor T1's unfortunately. Especially since I have the seats stripped out of the back and the Borla Race making racket. Cracking the sunroof really helps quell the resonance a lot surprisingly. The change brings the per wheel/tire weight down to about 35 per corner. I am also using the RDR bar and just trying to get a feel for it. I am not used to FWD.

Ciao
