Snow Tires

Ok I've read some threads on tire sizes but I can't ever find a definite answer. I'm wanting to run a 205/50/17 simply because you get more tire options can this be done? Will I have issues with rubbing steering or anything?

205/50-17 is about 0.9" taller than a 205/45/17. Your ground clearance will be increased by half that amount (good for snow) and the other half will reduce the clearance between your tires and fenders. Unless you have lowered the suspension you will be well clear of rubbing.

I may lower later on but I'm most likely going to do coil overs so winter I can just raise the suspension

mini seems to put much smaller od tires on their cars than they can accommodate

my cms all4 came stock with 225/45R18s (25.9 inch od)

i put 205/70R16 (27.3 inch od) winters on the car and have no rubbing issues at all

I agree with the tire sizes for sure. I've looked at measurements of different tire size most aren't far off from the stock size. Seems like they are trying to make it harder to find tires

FWIW I run 215/45/17 for winters and summers, winters are on OEM Slites, no rubbage or anything, summers are on OZ's and I do get some rub in the back under hard hits
