The raw materials used in the production of this exhaust are inferior. Stuff from China is junk. It might look nice, but there is no way this thing will last. I have NEVER, in my 31 years on this planet, seen a quality product from Taiwan. The fitment issue is just the beginning. I will be suprised if the thing will go through two max three winters (unless you`re in Arizona).

Paul.

To post an attachment, scroll to the "Additional Options" area below the post area. Click on the "Manage Attachments" button. That will present you with filename boxes.Browse to where the pictures live on your hard drive. Click on the file, click the "Upload" button to upload it and then click the "Close this window" button.

Looking at the info below, it looks like you're trying to link pics that live on your hard drive, instead of attaching them.

another pic of exh

fyi resonator is straight through, id same as pipe leading into it.

I think posting problem was resolution and 800/600 dip ratio issues. Very frustrating since no info was available to help in posting.

SpunkyTheTuna,

I wonder if you have received your exhaust system that you ordered from ebay yet. I just ordered one myself from ebay, so I am curious to find out what you think about it.

I'm sorry, I thought I had posted about that. If I didn't, I certainly should have.

It's been on my car for maybe three weeks and about 2000 miles. It arrived quickly, packed well, and with all the bolts and suchlike that were needed. Welds are gorgeous, it's polished nicely, and it's almost a shame to put it under the car.

Decided I was too old to be farting around crawling under the car and took it to a local shop where they let me help install it.

Four fitment problems, none of them big deals.

I have an 04, so the inside mounting hooks on the mufflers needed to be torched and rotated 90 degrees. If you have an earlier car than 04 you won't need to do that.

The resonator is on the wrong end of the front pipe, so you'll need to cut the front of the rectangular mounting plate. Tin snips, cutting wheels on a Dremel, angle grinder, really ferocious rodent of some sort, and five minutes' work. I ended up cutting the center out of mine all the way back to the rectangular stamped hole. It was actually more than I needed and hasn't seemed to weaken the mount in any noticable way.

While you're there, you may as well fix a problem that both MartyR and I had. The front pipe is very close to the mounting plate and both his and mine vibrated at idle. I fixed it the same way he did: space the mounting plate out from the body with a few washers and space the rubber mounting gizmo up from the mounting plate with some washers to give the pipe some more wiggle room.

I had to bend the back of the bash plate under the battery box down a bit to clear the bellmouth ends of the pipes. I did it with my hand, but pliers would work if yours is somehow stiffer than mine.

That's it. Sounds beautiful, looks good, and while it's influence on performance isn't staggering, neither is any other exhaust. I like it, it was cheap. What more could you want?

Good luck with yours. If there are any questions I didn't answer, PM me and I'll be glad to help if I can.

Mine arriced in 2 or 3 days, all parts with it. Trimming the center pipe is all I needed to do. System was beautiful. I like the sound. Very mild, unobtrusive but still, sounds peppy. Can't tell if it makes more power. Someone is supposed to dyno his. I didn't. A real good buy. $409 delivered (I have to pay CA salles tax.

Thanks for the detailed installation comments. My Mini is an '04 so I guess I will have to find a way to turn the hangers.

My system just arrived. It was shipped very promptly by the ebay seller.

It's easy. Torch 'em and twist 'em.

any pics of it on the car?

Is a sound file out of the question?

Can anybody compare it to a Borla Street or any other aftermarket exhaust for sound? pitch and loudness differences.

Thanks,

GMG

MartyR. Did you get the system dyno'ed?

while I'm still really pleased with the system, I'm curious what the numbers are/were. Please let us know.

Everytime I read about exhausts and the tribulations of people in dealing with exhaust issues, I am reminded how happy I am with the ebay exhaust Fine sound, unobtrusive, but when you open the windows and drive past a wall or tunnel, the sound is really noticeable and sounds powerful. Sort of higher pitched so there is no drone or irritating noise. I get more noise from the Alta intake. Still looks shiny even after first rains in SoCal. No vibrations or rattles. No clamps to mess with as it was all flanges and bolts. Only bad thing, you can see the left exhaust from the rear but not the right. It does not really bother me. Tips line up just fine.

Why go to ebay, when you can support a local vendor...

397 Plus Shipping.... When using the NAM discount...

Megan Racing Performance Exhaust

Three questions with this one:

1.) I read that some of the small parts were missing when you installed this exhaust, will this be true with the ones shipped?

2.) Also, are there any fitment issues, and proven gains?

3.) Is the sound comparable to any of the better known exhausts on the market?

Thanks

Steve

There was 1 bolt missing. I have since called them and they should be adding it to all future shipments.

I did not have a fitament issue when installing.

The sound is similar to the UUC and Borla Street... a bit quieter then the uuc, and a little louder then the borla.

Performance...

I did some before and after Acceleration Runs of the stock exhaust from 30Kph to 100 kph Here are the results. The stock exhaust was tested at 61 F, and the Megan Racing it was 66F

The Stock Ran 5.61 average in one direction, and 5.80 in the other.

The Megan Ran 5.52 average in one direction, and 5.72 in the other.

warranty?

Dan,
what warranty does this exhaust offer? and/or do you provide the warranty/return if something runs amok?

Thanks

Greg

Ok, So is the Borla street worth the extra money over the Megan?

I am going to buy one or the other

Ok,

Warranty is 90 days from Megan, but I will extend that to 1 year like all the other products that I sell, and we will handle the warranty.

Regarding the Borla vs the Megan. I have sold about the same ammount of both, and have not had a negative comment about either. Personally I run the megan because there is No Drone, and I can conduct business on the phone while driving (hands free of course) with the megan installed. I had trouble doing that when I had the UUC.

What kind of HP gains does the Megan create? Can you combine it with the header?

I have not run HP numbers with and with the megan exhaust, but I did do Acceleraion numbers.

The Stock Ran 5.61 average in one direction, and 5.80 in the other.

The Megan Ran 5.52 average in one direction, and 5.72 in the other.

Those type of numbers count more in my book then any dyno can show.

What do you mean by combine?

They are made to work together. So you will see a bit more, though I am going to test the header next weekend after the new years for performance numbers.

It is a little louder, but still quite quiet in comparison to other exhausts.

Has anyone installed a Megan exhaust recently and does it still have the
issue with the resonator being mounted too far back?
