OS Giken clutch options

Hey all,

Well im in need of a new clutch as my factory one doesn't appear to like the 230 pony's when I put my foot down in top gear.
Here in NZ, to get a factory replacement is $3500. Or I can get the OS Giken GT for $2000, so that's an easy decision. lol

What im wanting to know is, they have two options in the GT for the R53. One with a "soft diaphragm" and one "without".

Has anyone here experienced them to know if there is much of a difference? And which was better/they preferred?

Cheers in advance
Matt

not sure about those options.

They have the STR (street) or GT options for the mini that I am aware of... (and maybe one other line)

These do have to do with holding power and engagement.

And then there is the twin disk unsprung clutch like I have in mine from them that makes a hellacious racket.

Cheers dude.
Yea apparently (according to the OS G guy) there are two options in the GT series. Im guessing one is designed to be nicer in traffic. lol

nicer in traffic usually means changing pressure plate springs so that it slips a little more on engagement allowing for a larger engagement zone on the clutch.

Ususally also means a little less holding power, but for most mini's it is overkill as it is.

That was the idea behind the twin disk clutch at least.

Double the surface area so it can still slip on engagement, but spring pressure can remain high so you dont loose much in terms of holding power.

OS's (twin disk) is noisy and still a pretty short engagement though (about 1/3 - 1/4th the engagement zone as stock) but I have yet to stall out the car.
