I've had the Quick Silver for over a year and about 20,000 miles. I have never had a issue with droning. We have taken the Mini on a 3500 mile round trip with no issues on noise. I have recently replaced the muffler with a Quicksilver Super Sports muffler. It is definitely more free flowing than the original. The sound is a little louder and deeper but, still not too loud for my taste.

I was probably one of the first to get one, and it treated me well. I too like the oval tip, and mellow, but deep sound. While it is more free-flowing than stock, it is not one of higher flow aftermkt units though. If one is planning on more than 200hp, this might not be the one to maximize gains. That is the only reason I parted with mine...

I had the Quicksilver. Low weight at about 20 pounds single exhaust system with good power in mid to higher range rpm, low exhaust note but not too loud, nice oval tip, easy enough to install it yourself if you want. but the price is kinda high. I didn't think it droned but other MINI owners feel that it does.

I added a Milltek header and that increased the exhaust note for the QS so I decided to get the quiet Milltek cat back and that worked out. Heavier but more power. No droning.
I read that with the header the QS was more restrictive than other exhausts so the power gains from the pulley upgrade/header would be lessened somewhat.

The folks at London stainless designed the QS to be a "gentleman's exhaust". I rather liked it and was sad to replace it. I'd recommend the QS but not with any header.
QS comes with an optional dual tip from London Stainless.

being that the QS is a single sided exhaust system, can someone tell me the advantages (or disadvantages) of a dual sided exhaust system? thanks.

Single
Pros- usually light weight about 20-22 pounds. Can provide moderate powergains, finish can be as high quality as any system, costs less to ship over water by about $40. Single oval tip not seen with double systems.
Cons- some designs are restrictive and don't allow as much power to be gained when adding more mods like exhaust header and pulley. Not as many tips to choose from. Some have a slightly raspy exhaust note. Some do drone a little.

Double
Pros- lighter than stock by about 10-12 pounds but still about 33. More selection of designs than with the singles. Some of the most powerful systems are double sided. Better balanced for the car with respect to right and left.
Cons- not as light as a single sided exhaust. Some of the most expensive systems are double sided. Some double systems don't provide more power than single sided systems. Some systems definitely drone. Some systems are definitely the loudest available for the MINI

Prices vary for both in the $600 to $800 range.
