ALTA FMIC Fitment issues

Has anyone installed an Alta FMIC on a 2013 R56 S. I am struggling with an extra bumper bar that does not seem to be in the instructions and or any of the install Vids. The Helix video does a great job of showing step by step bumper removing but it seems like all instructions given are for a different year Model than mine.

I'm referring to a lower horizontal bar beneath the bumper bar that the FMIC would be tucked under.

Let me know if any NAM members have ran into this issue.

Thanks...

Lower crash bar

The 2013 models have a lower crash bar that needs to be cut. I have a 2013 JCW and had to cut the middle section of that bar out to fit my intercooler. Just cut midfle section out and leave the two braces and outer sections.

Wow, would have never thought I had to go that far.

I take it that there will be no major issues w/cutting this off, besides loosing my intercooler on a front end collision.

Oh well, must trust my keen driving skills

Yes

Right. I dont think there are any major issues except protecting the intercooler at a low speed crash. I just cut the center out of mine and left the 2 short end pieces.

Worked out perfect. Used grinder to cut out center piece, and also fab the hose inlet sections for ease of fitment of the FMIC.

Thanks for the help Go-Cart

I installed my Alta FMIC recently on my 2013 Coupe S. The plastic trimming required as per instructions, was easy with a air die grinder.

At first I thought I had to cut that lower bar too. But the Alta actually fits , you just have play with it.

FWIW, there is no trimming of any kind required for the Forge or Helix versions on 2013 model years.

Hey guys, actually with the newer cars, you shouldn't have to cut that extra bumper piece out. You will need to loosten the bolts that connect it to the chassis to move it out of the way slightly when doing the install, but after the intercooler is in place, tighten the bolts up, and it should fit fine. If it seems like it doesn't clear, try getting the couplers on the intercooler more to move it more toward the engine.
