Higher Octane

Will higher octane unleaded race gas increase performance on a pullied/stock ECU MCS?
I'm at the track this weekend and just received an email that they will have up to 107 octane gas available. Would it help (at 5000 feet elevation)?

You may get an extra hp or 2. Nothing significant. Be sure you use UNLEADED race fuel.

I doubt it.

But let us know if you think it does.

It may be that you would need to have your ECU prepped for the higher octane to make a difference?????

I expect that jazzmini is right. Once you have a high enough octane to keep the knock sensor from retarding the timing, any octane increase above that is wasted. If they can flash a chip with increased timing advance, then you could probably take advantage of it. That much timing advance may be out of the range that they have to work with.

Good luck,

91 is the optimal octane rating need for optimal performance. putting high octane fuel in the car will not do anything.

Well, that's probably good news - I won't be temped to pay $4.00 a gallon for the fuel!
