K&N and AEM are same. When I had my valve cover damages reimbursed I spoke to K&N engineer with AEM manager. You're not getting anything different by getting another cone....save your pennies for something else

From what I was reading they are not the same. AEM uses K&N to make some of their parts, but they are still designed by AEM. So, even though they are all made by the same company the engineering and design are still seperate. this is what I found....

To all AEM Customers:

In the current economic and technical environment, it makes sense for businesses to look for opportunities to form strategic partnerships to enhance the strength of the companies. In this spirit, AEM and K&N have formed a strategic partnership and alliance to take advantage of each company’s core competencies. As a result, AEM air intakes, filters, and related air induction products will now be managed and operated in a strategic partnership with K&N. AEM will provide technical and engineering services while K&N will manage the sales, marketing, and manufacturing of these product lines. AEM performance electronics and billet parts will continue to be engineered, manufactured, and sold exclusively by AEM.

How this affects you:

At this time you should continue to order products and make contact with AEM in the usual manner. In some cases some orders may be split between induction and electronic segments. Over the next few months some procedures for AEM induction products will change including ordering, billing, and sales support. You will be contacted with more information as these changes occur.

We appreciate your support and look forward to the opportunities that this partnership brings. If you have any questions please contact Kirk Miller or Greg Neuwirth.

Thank you for your ongoing business.

Yeah they are not the same. They can use each other to make parts but still be competitors.
Ex. Apple uses LG and Samsung to produce displays. But they are still competitors.
AEM still talks crap about K&N for using Oil in their filters. Lol.

Put K&N filter on my AEM Intake. Turbo sound is back. Much more flow than AEM DryFlow

what are you basing the "more flow" on? Noise alone? Butt dyno? Until I see actual data I would be more inclined to say there is no discernable difference between the two. More turbo noise doesn't necessarily mean more flow

I could be wrong. Just based on noise. Compared to AEM cone. K&N cone. And open airbox. The open airbox was the loudest. And AEM was the quietest. So I assumed the K&N had better flow.
