I have a 2007 MCS. ~230whp seems about the limit of the stock MCS turbo, I would think a JCW turbo on a JCW car could do quite a bit more.

I'm getting the E45HP in my S. They're in the process of porting the turbo and have a 3rd gen mani ready for me. I hope to be up and ready with REAL data before the start of Spring.

Your's is one of the builds I am following intently.

Arric from JM Turbo is a no-BS, non-salesly kind of guy, and I really appreciate that, but I have not be able to find hard data at this time.

If you document your success to the nth degree there's a free ice cream at Friendly's in it for you. :p

And promise us, if this all bombs, please say so. I'm wishing you the best and not trying to be a weenie on the interwebs, but I can't tell you how many folks have bought hybrid turbos only to disappear on their build threads, for good or bad. :(

Let me be more clear- Evolve have a tune for a JCW turbo on an S its a known quantity to them so what I'm saying is there is a supporting remap for that mod that will get you to approx 290hp. Without the software any gains from bolt ons are limited. Of course you also require a bigger intercooler, catless dp and turbo back. I'm sure that if at that output your dicing with disaster they'll tell you straight up, checkout the BMW community it your unsure of their commitment to their customers or the quality of their work.

I know Evolve is a stand up operation and my tolerance for risk associated with high HP (more so Tq) in the R56 is much lower than 290hp, but just like the hybrid turbos, I haven't found one documented case of then (or anyone else) getting a JCW turbo running on a stock MCS with supporting mods. It'd be great if someone watching this thread could link something here.

I'll definitely do my best to do so. I think it'll only be beneficial for everyone to see what the E45HP is capable of with tuning.

Well I would love to give you a long list of performance benefits of ceramic coatings, which there may be. However our motivation was to prevent rust and get rid of that annoying heat shield so we could take the turbo out in 20min. To us it is more of a look and access thing, personally I don't really think it would be much of a performance benefit for a street car.

Anyway we usually port the manifold than send it out to get coatings. We offer flat black and brilliant silver that really shines in the sun but wont fade like the chrome ceramic. It also holds the heat in well enough so you don't need to reinstall the heat shield.

To be honest I'm only interested for aesthetic reasons. The shield is ugly.

Those shields are the devil! I'd think the coating is another great step in preventing the oil cooking issue in the oil feed lines.

Have I mentioned I hate those shields!

Yes they are mostly because they vent the hot air right on the oil line???? the logic behind that is baffling. Coatings really help.

It's been a few weeks now, was wondering if you've been tuned?

Seems like you've done some work or at least bought some parts from Evolve, a respected UK tuner, did you go with them? Or perhaps DNA Tuning in the UK?

If so, did you have your car dynoed, and can you provide a dyno graph?

It's been difficult to folks with documented success with a hybrid or even a JCW turbo out there. Many thanks.
Sorry not been on here for a while. Sorting out a few things on my car so no tune yet. We have DNA who are local to me. Like the idea of John doing the tune but my concern is no rolling road. If tune was done on a rolling road I would hope you could easily see what the outcomes are. More tweaking then see outcome and so on until tune is the best it can be.

Others who have used john seem happy and get ecu sent of, try it and if not happy send it off again for tweaks. Would prefer one hit on dyno.

Manic mini is also close but do I need switchable maps at the premium that costs?

Evolve is the other option. I know Imran. I supplied the okada coils for them to test which resulted in them selling them. I had a low mileage mcs turbo I gave them which they turned into a hybrid. I believe they weren't happy with it but guess it comes down to who does the hybrid. They borrowed my jcw turbo and felt it was better. 290 Bhp was the result with similar mods to mine. However that was at 24 psi and doubt I would want to run past 21.

I have had my jcw turbo on for a while now. Also sold my previous jcw turbo when I needed the funds and that guy in Greece noticed better running and performance straight away.

As seen in my post. Bolt on mods do make a difference but tune is what ties it all in. My milltek was blowing so had to get that welded up and that would have effected my run. Milltek dp is being swapped out for an akropovic then may get walnut shell blast of inlet valves then map.

And all the info about evolves development on their mcs can be found in their project thread over on minitorque.

Well, DNA and I will be tuning JM Turbo's E45HP before the end of March. We'll break in their turbo properly and then get it on the dyno for tuning. We'll have more information as the time progresses.

We promise not to be MIA when this happens either....

Good to see tuners working with hard wear developers, watching with interest

I like the idea of bolt and flash at home.

No. It's nothing but a head ache. Put a bad *** suspension. Tune it for the turbo you have on it and have fun. Other than that your gonna be working on it and chasing problems rather that gone to meets and having fun. There fixed entities in these computers that can't be changed and that's the limiting factor. Tune what you got. Max out the suspension. Keep the oil change and keep having fun

I have noticed since the JM Turbo's E45HP was installed it got quiet in this thread, the excitement has dropped off considerably.

That's why the entire code was rewritten (took 6 weeks) for the stage 4 tune. Everyone here has a job, his life is doing numerous builds on Mini Coopers, he has the most builds for MCS on this forum. He has purchased so many parts for MCS that he is considered the guy to go to for advice on upgrades, suspension, intakes, exhaust the list continues. Right now Mini coopers is his life more than anyone on this forum.
