Pulley Install on 2005 - Anybody Done One On An Automatic?
I've got a 2005 Cooper S with an automatic tranmission, I was planning on doing a pulley install during the winter while my car is off the road. has anybody done an install on an auto?
since I assume the majority of the time these are installed on manual transmissions, does anybody have any idea if there may be anything I need to be aware of that may not be shown on the instruction manuals and tutorials?
thanks everybody!

The motor on the auto s sits in a SLIGHYLY different position...
Slightly higher, and about an inch further over....so slightly less space to work...but many folks have done it ok, no issues.

We've done almost 600 pulley installs, of those we've done many Automatic ones. I remember we were the first to do one back in 05 at MOTD. That time we took way more apart than we actually needed to.
But if you're using our Craven pulley puller the procedure is basically the same. The engine is moved about 1/4 of an inch toward the pass frame rail. So getting the belt tool on the tensioner is a little easier if you do it after starting to raise the engine. But the belt is also a little harder to get around the crank. But like I said the procedure is the same. We have a link to instructions on our pulley page that one of our customers did.

I was more concerned that I would get into it, and the instructions I was following wouldn't match what I was seeing in the real world.
