I have a modification to the ignition system of the MINI.
It is a simple modification of the ECU to coil-primary wiring which potentially increases the coil primary current.

Some may find that it really smooths out the torque along the entire RPM band.

If you send a SASE with ONE stamp to the address in my information page, I'll send out the information.

I'm just trying to help the MINI community as well as gather potential customer contacts.

C'mon now. I'd be willing to bet (at least the 50p for a stamp and envelope) that Trippy really has something to share. If for no other reason than it would be the kiss of death for his advocacy of data driven results and responsible advertising (if he doesnt actually advocate those things, my bad, I'm working off of memory).

So before I invest my hard earned pence, can you perhaps elaborate a bit on what this mod entails?

Thanks

Chuck

PLEASE READ

This thread has been edited. We're going to cue it back up and play it again.

Trippy assures me this is on the up and up. Given his well established reputation for holding people honest to their claims, I trust that is indeed the case.

For any doubters, why don't you take the opportunity to hold Trippy to the same standards anyone else offering a product is held to.

Ok. I'll be the first to give benifit of doubt. Let's hear the specifics. You have to admit, this thread had really bad timing and came across as over bearing sarcassum targeted at M7.

Even if he does have something legit to share, hes only doing this to poke at m7. I think its people like Trippy who soil these boards with trash and threads like this should jsut be deleted

I'll bite...
as for trippy soiling the board with trash - i've read many threads that he has participated in, and I think generally he is helpful and a good asset.

when it comes to M7 threads, there is something apparently personal there (and I'd go with Trippy on that subject, might I add)

But as for this potential mod... whats up?

I think it involves taking two refigerator magnets and wrapping them around the wires with tape. This is the free part. The magnets create an electromagnetic field around the wires. You have to make sure the field is facing a certain direction. This will act as an accelerator and actually accelerate the electrons traveling through the wire, much like the atomic accelerators at Fermilab or CERN. Because the electrons are moving faster the coil pack has more electrons. More electrons means more power (Electrical Engineering 101). This in turn creates a more powerful spark. Because the magnets are always charged the power can be felt across the entire RPM range. You will even notice that it idles smoother and starts up quicker. Combine this with the Tornado that you have seen on TV that goes into the intake and you have one powerful mod.

I have been using this for a week, and holy cow does the car take off. I smoked one of those brand new Prius' off the line (at a track event). He totally ate my dust. When we were done, he wanted to see what I had done to mod my car. He had upgraded his batteries in his car with some new Ultra Max type (something from Toyota's TRD division) and put in a new intake, so he swore he was going to beat me. I showed him my refigerator magnet trick and he was quite suprised. He went home and tried it on the wiring from his batteries. Low and behold he is now beating WRX's and EVO's around the track with ease. He saw a much more dramatic impact because of his greater use of electrical charges in the car. So if you see a bright green Prius with white racing stripes and a car seat in the back, stay away from him. He will smoke you.

sorry to burst your bubble, but magnetic fields do no work. (yes they can bend a beam path and that is of course acceleration but to have them go faster in the context you suggest, you would need to do work on them)

The modification is much simpler than you guys are making it out to be.
It's really nothing remarkable at all. But I like it, and I think some others might also.
Some people won't see any change, but I hope some do.

You can get all the supplies at a local (or remote for that matter) Radio Shack. Maybe even Home Depot.

I have NO experience with anything other than my 2002 MC 5-speed, so your
mileage may vary with this mod.

I'm following the board's wisdom and giving it away for free. (Well, the instructions anyway)

I don't have scope traces or anything yet. This is a little bit early, so please give me two weeks or so.
I'll be in California most of next week.

Don't expect horsepower from this mod either.

Increased smoothness and sharper revs is the most I experienced from it.

any horsepower?

No, but it smooths the throttle.

LOL.

Psst, you can email me the information at akizirian@yahoo.com in case you didn't realize email is a lot more efficient than dealing with any post office.

Or just post how the mod is done right here. Thanks in advance.

I guess I don't understand the secresy either. Post it! Kind of hard to believe the show-me-the-numbers guy is offering something without a shred of proof, free or not.

Hey,

I went to a bunch of trouble to find cool pictures that I posted in the earlier version of this thread. And you deleted them DiD! Not fair!

Ergo, I will post them again.

Here's Trippy at home:

OK, I feel better now.

I am convinced that this is a joke. Honestly, Trippy is one of my favorite NAM people, but this is obviously not for real.

Trippy and maxmini is really ONE PERSON who unselfishly takes time out of his busy life to entertain us with the antics of these two imaginary characters. Due to the high classification of this subject I am unable to reveal his true identity, however he is a moderator and resides in Long Island.

I gurantee you 100% that I have made this modification to my ignition system.

Physics says that it should increase the primary and secondary coil currents.

I have not measued them, so I'm not posting numbers just like others who do not measure things do not post numbers.

I have made the mod myself, and I am giving the instructions away for free, but there seems to be a precedent for using the NAM community to so market research and gather names for a miling list, and I also want to do that.

This way, I can recoup a little bit of my time and research.

I doubt that people will see a horsepower gain, but some people are thrilled with a little more smoothness, so this may be a mod that interests them. I think I am probably being fooled by the placebo effect, but it's VERY difficult to avoid that effect alone.

It will be about 2 weeks before I send anything out.

All of the addresses I collect will be copied onto an 8.5 Inch by 11 Inch sheet of paper and inserted into a file folder in my desk.

If I choose to produce a product I think you might be interested in, I will use your mailing address to send you information on the product.

I will not give or sell your name and address to anyone.

Is that paper college-ruled or plain white? Recycled fiber content? Brightness? 20 lb bond?

Show me the numbers!

If I'm not getting the RadioShack parts you described for free in my envelope, I'm not sending you shti!

If you have free instructions, post them here. Free products, request a SASE.
