Happy Birthday. Mine is today too. You'll love the reduction pulley....best bang for the buck esp if you self install.

Thank you much. I'm sure you can find a good mini related gift within her budget. Can't wait to get this pulley on!

Good luck on the install, just make sure you buy or borrow the correct tools if you plan on DIY.

You will need belt tensioner release tool as well as the pulley remover, DIY is definitely rewarding but gets expensive lol

belt tensioner release tool?
you mean a 2' section of ~1/2" OD steel pipe and a short M6 bolt?

oh, and cannot forget the 15mm socket and the wood wedges (hold the socket in place) for the pivot point.

Works like a charm.

but yeah.. pulley puller is a must.

you can rent them though...

Luckily my friend has one of these already and has done this before. Probably wait until spring to do this though, don't need more power in snow.

Its time to test the harmonic balancer and the look at the SC and change the oils and see if the water pump is still happy.

yep might as well do some preventive maintenance, and put a ATI damper on. 05 and 06 in particular have a huge problem with the Harmonic damper falling apart. Do a search there is plenty of threads on it.

Yea probably should. I was thinking of an Atla adjustable tensioner stop. My buddy put a lightweight crank pulley on his, not sure if I wanna go that route though.

I had a buddy shoot himself in the foot and I decided not to do that either.

He is correct, we've seen bearing damage from the lightweight pulleys. The ATI is the best choice

Why is it that people still choose to ignore the advice of people like Way and countless others that try and steer people clear of mods that are detrimental to the overall health of your MINI. Why would anyone risk their engine for such a minuscule gain? If you are he'll bent on going to a smaller crank pulley at least go with the ATI as it is dampened.

I went with the ATI Harmonic Balancer and its just fricken AWESOME!!!

ATI is a good company as well. I needed one for a diesel engine I have that they do not make. But they said they would make me one if I sent it in so they would have something to go from as it is a common engine world wide.

Do they fail gradually? Or instantaneously? Mine looks good yet.

Gotcha, I was wondering how it can be "awesome", I guess a smoother idle answers that.
