Drivetrain pulley change
whats up Dennis, how does it look down there? I think you do have to lift the engine, but removing and replacing the pulley should be easier. I dont have a pulley yet, but have read all about the removal and install and will eventually get the Alta myself. Good luck!
>>Have an alta 15% and want to change to an alta 19%. Can this be done without lifting the engine. Have e-mailed Alta and Sawyer and don't get any response.

I replaced mine the other day to another brand from alta. I did this with out lifting the engine. You just need the tension remover tool and some patience. A long stick with a magnet is a life saver

Its doable without lifting the engine. Use the tensioner tool, along with a screwdriver to wedge it open so you can get your hands down to work on the pulley. Its tedious and takes a lot of allen wrench work, but easier than the initial swap.
Also, to work the belt back on its easiest to remove the plastic skid plate under the chin and work from below.

Small fingers and a LOT of patience is needed, but you don't need to lift the motor. As 2cool said, do the belt work from below.
Terry Sayther sells the Goodyear GatorGrip belt. I don't know the part number, and I cannot read it any more.....but it is a kickass belt. Get it. I assume you are going to 19%?
