Intake installed... Engine goes into safe mode

I installed an intake and intake tube. The car drives good and the temps are lower... but when I drive the car hard, on fast shifts the engine will sometimes go into safe mode. (reduced power) Is this a result of the bypass valve not being able to keep up electronicly? Should I try the ALTA Vacume bypass valve?

Thoughts?

I have the AGS-R intake, and the Forge intake tube.

If you did nothing else to the car except change the intake, my bet is the MAF sensor does not like the intake. Only way to check is with a OBDII code reader.

MAF sensors are sensitive to how air flows around them. Some cars more than others. You could try cleaning the MAF with MAF sensor cleaner.

BTW, what is the point of running that scoop to the outside of the hood if you have three huge holes drilled in the airbox?

Check the MAF first. If it's not the MAF, I'm leaning towards a ripped diaphram in the OEM diverter valve. Easy driving won't demand much of the diverter but as soon as you're on it, the diverter valve will have trouble with the boost, the ECU sees a boost issue and cuts power. Like countryboyshane said, you need a code reader to diagnose.

I took the plugs out because It sounds better... I'm not trying to break speed records. just wanted to have fun with the car. I did some testing with the plugs in and out and the air temps really done change at all.. The pressure is less most likely but unless I track the car I'll just leave them off.
I thought it could be the MAF.. I'll try cleaning it.. It feels like it happens after I let off the throttle and go back into the throttle hard.

Yeah I'm thinking that may be the culprit... It feels like that could be it.
I have a scan guage II but it doesn't find anything. It doesn't throw any codes that I can read. I feel like if it was the MAF that would be readable.

Let me check that diaphragm.

Use a CAN Tool or other diagnostic tool to read the code!
