Ordering Wagner Tuning Intercooler

Next week I will be ordering a Wagner Tuning FMIC. Does anyone have this product installed? It is a European Company that makes intercoolers for Audi, BMW, Porsche.... I was just going to try it out. $550 ain't bad compared to the others. Unless you guys want to convince me to not purchase it.

I personally haven't used theirs or Helix's or Alta's. So I am not going to give any blind advice.

What I will say is be prepared for people who have bought Alta, Helix, or none of them to tell you it's absolute garbage and you shouldn't take the risk because they others are more expensive so they MUST be better.

I don't know...the other brands seem to have a following and are more expensive. They must be better.

Actually, the only thing I question is your price calculation. At 1.6 dollars to the Pound, I get $760, which is about in line with everybody else. Is the 475 Pounds with or without VAT added?

I have a Helix on since March. I love it and only reason I bought it was because a buddy of mine has it in his 3 series. Plus I loved the information on it. I've had people tell me why not Forge because it's a little lighter weight wise and it has tabs so it'll stay put. Not good enough reasons to me.

Go with the Wagner, I know a few people on here have them on and are happy with the intercooler. Don't be swayed by dumb statements.

That may mean in the UK/euro zone....might be more internationally....
And remember the VAT...the killer euro version of sales tax...yes...it is charged on internet sales.....

Evolve's FMIC in their current groupbuy is close to that price along with their downpipe. Makes no sense in getting a wagner when Evolve has been proven to be the best intercooler out there. uk guy already did the IAT tests on recovery...oh wells. Enjoy

Some guy running a Wagner seems to like it better than Forge or Evolve:

It's funny that you can be so confident to say something has been PROVEN to be the best product available. Feel free to show the unbiased, 3rd part test of all intercoolers in the same conditions that show the Evolve coming out on top. I have nothing against them and even like their products, but that's a talking out your *** statement.... NOT a fact, an opinion being presented as a fact.

Actually, in all of my research, there is only one brand who I saw that did extensive testing of their intercooler in multiple different ways, against the stock one and that was $1100+. So I'm sure none of us are jumping to get it at the price, but none of the affordable options out there have put that sort of testing, graphs and results out.

Don't go saying one product is far superior than all it's competition with no hard proof of that. Don't present your opinion as a hard fact for whatever reason you see that necessary.

And in looking at the shape, size, dimensions and operation of all the popular ones (Helix, Alta, Forge etc), how on earth can one perform noticeably better than another? They're damn near identical. I want proof of that before people make those claims.

You should be able to order one through a Wagner Distributor in the USA, there are a few on the BMW forums.

In my opinion from the data I have seen the Wagner Cools better than the Evolve but the Evolve FMIC does not seem to have the same boost drop as the Wagner. I am in the UK and did the testing for the Wagner FMIC. Here is the data:

I have done testing out on track as well and it performs very well. I would highly recommend the Wagner, the quality of the product is also a lot better than the Evolve, the two are pictured here:

Wow. Thanks for the information!
Makes me more confident on my upcoming purchase!
Looks very high quality compared to any other manufacturer. I like the numbers too! And for the price? What a steal!

Wouldn't the track version compare better to the Forge since the Forge is the only other IC that makes use of a top mounting tab? Therefore the size dimensions would be similar?

Is it just me or is there not that much difference between the hp/tq numbers from the stock intercooler vs the wagner on the 1320 tune? I see a big difference in finish intake temps but that didn't seem to equate to much if any. I hope the benefits would be more under the peak. Also, is the wagner a bolt on without any modifications? Looks like a nice product.

Why do people think they're getting a big horsepower boost with a better intercooler?
It's an item to have more CONSISTENT power. To keep you in your peak power ranges by alleviating heat problems. It's not something you bolt on and magically get MORE power, it slows/stops heatsoak, it doesn't inject colder air or some magical thing like that.

I guess I should have chosen my words a little more carefully. I know you can't expect huge gains with the addition of an intercooler, I guess it was just interesting that there was an actual loss in peak HP/tq with the addition of the intercooler. So are you saying with this intercooler you could expect CONSISTENTLY lower peak hp/tq figures?

lol why do people think larger FMICs make power? They are not there to make power, they are there to hold power and keep IATs low.

If you think you can feel the difference of a a few whp/wtq then your special.
