I'm looking to install a pulley and an intake and I wanted to have your opinion on the best intake (compromise between sound and performance) and the best 19% reduction pulley. Mini madness seems to have a nice pulley but I'm not sure the price is worth it??? Also I heard the Alta intake is amazing but I have yet to hear on what it sounds like...does it compare to the BMP in terms of sound?

Also if anyone can comment on using the shark injector with these mods please do so.

Appreciate your comments,

Luca

most of us can agree that the ALTA intake is the best out there.

don't bother with an ECU when you get a 19% pulley, the gains will be minimal, especially if you have a stock intercooler. Whatever pulley you choose, make sure it's a taper-bore style, just to be safe.

While BMP is loud it isn't as loud as Alta intake with hose. Some don't like the noise so listen before you buy.
Otherwise on a budget the Pilo intake is basic and affordable and the RDR is worth a look. All of these give some power with the Alta with hose leading the rest.

The pulley upgrade will void your supercharger warranty. The 19% pulley is the most drastic. 15% is safest. While 19% gives the most HP and torque gains it doesn't benefit as much from known ECU mappings according to Randy Webb. It generates more heat and long term effects are unknown. I don't think it is a bad idea to wait on an ECU for now unless someone shows that it is worth the investment for a 19% pullied MCS. Maybe GIAC will address that point but it is not yet ready for release.

If you choose the shark injector it will work with these mods but to a lesser degree than with other ECU upgrades. Not much benefit for the 19% pulley compared to the 15% pulley for the shark. If you like the shark you should also look at the AmD One Click which installs in the same method via the OBDII port. The One click is more tunable than the Shark which comes in just two flavors based on Octane used.

There is no rush to get an ECU upgrade. Just drive it first and decide for yourself if you need a little more smoothness or power.

Taper bore pulleys like those sold by Helix13.com allow for changing from one size like 19% to both 17% or 15% in about 30 minutes by removing the 6 allen bolts and loosing the belt to change just the outer part of the pulley. The extra pulley part is about $80 and you do pay a little more for the initial pulley. Also you need a smaller pulley belt to match the 19% pulley.
