I've got one that I have never used (wanna buy it?). The reason being that I found it difficult to install with the extra bracket that comes with the aero kit. with the regular bumper it should be easy to install and remove (for oil changes).

The Skidplate was my first mod. I got some use out of it less than a week after the install, well worth it in my opinion. I believe Moss Motors is having a sale on them right now, you might want to check it out. These are not full out rally type, more for street curbs, potholes, etc. The mounting is pretty easy, using the fastners and mounting points already in place. Again, not a pro-rally set-up, but I am glad I have it for the incidental less than perfect road.

If you rally or live on a dirt road it might be worth installing. Otherwise, it is just a quick way to ADD 30 pounds to the car. If you install it, use antisieze on the fasteners. It will save the mechanic a headache.

>> any problems with oil changes or any thing else?

I got an engine oil drain valve with nipple, so I can attach a hose and drain my oil, saving the need to remove the skid plate.

I live on a dirt road and really need it....didn't want to make servicing more difficult...

here's the link for the drain valve--there's previous threads about them, but I'll just say it is well made and will NOT open independently....

I wouldn't do it if you plan on "tracking" your car. When we were on the track in Neveda the only two cars to overheat had the skid plate. Plus I have heard of this happening to others.

Tracking the car is exactly the reason I WOULD put one on. I've exceded the laws of physics 3 times where the skid plate kept a off road excursion only embarassing and not expensive. I have the moss plate and have done over 30 k miles on it and I live in sunny So Cal which has been known to get warm on occaision. As for overehating at the track there are things you can do to help prevent that.

Presence of a skid plate does appear to be a strong predictor of steering pump overheating and failure.

I had one rather agressive cyn run where the steering did get stiff after about 45 min of hard driving. I waited about 5 min and everything was back to normal. There may be a link but the added protection is still worth it in my opinion.
