BREN tuning

Have searched and found many people happy with tunes from this company in Massachusetts, but are all a couple years old. Has anyone gotten tuned there recently?
I'm looking at getting a tune this summer most likely from them or Jan at RMW

What's the build date of your MINI? It's going to affect your options quite a bit whether you have an N14 or N18 engine.

Better do a search for Jan, he recently screwed someone here over!

More than one. But no tuner is perfect. Keep that in mind. You'll always get a mix of highs and lows. BrenTuning is good, I wanted to go to him but he said he couldn't do my N18. He can certainly do your N14.

"Shared post from 'NAMotoring' by SPRINTCARS from thread 'problems after a tune HELP PLEASE !!!':

Got the car running again. Still does the exact same thing. Even after I performed some significant amount of work. Drive the car for a bit, head down the interstate, stay out of boost and try to pass a car and not let the car drop into passing gear.... Boom,,, half engine power light comes on. Tried to contact JAN AT RMW thru emails and by phone, left messages. NOT ONE RETURN EMAIL OR PHONE CALL !! Basically, he takes your money, if you have an issue, OH WELL !! He ignores you. Takes your money and runs. There you have it folks. My experience with RMW. it's not the services provided so much that bothers me, it's the way the business is conducted. No support afterwards. NONE !! And when he hears you have an issue he WILL totally ignore you. FIND A DIFFERENT TUNER TO USE !! If he don't have the time to follow up after he shouldn't take your business in the first place."

Yeah just looked it up and found this
I only ask about BREN because my friend said his friend had a BMW 335i tuned there and they had it running 26 psi with a very dangerous AFR, something like 10
Want to make sure I am getting a safe and reliable tune

Yeah I'd get something in the 16-18lbs of boost range. But that's just me.

Careful, if you have a Cooper S, I'd stay away from 20psi. A dudes engine on a Cooper S blew up. Too much stress on the engine could harm the car. If you had a JCW I'd say you'd be fine but good luck.

Blew it on 20psi with stock turbo? I've seen people running 22 who haven't had a problem but every motor is different. Will probably scale it down for reliability, this is my dd

I know Bren personally and he has the customer's interest in mind, always. He does quality work and spends time on making a safe tune with a lot of power..even if it means doing 20+ dyno pulls. tweaking every little thing and making sure everything is working out. He is a BIG proponent of safe tuning, but will squeeze out(via various avenues of tables) all the power. He does a LOT of BMW's and knows the systems extremely well.

This is the post I was hoping to get, and I will be getting tuned here in the next month or two. Can't wait!

Friend recently had his 06' R53 JCW done by Bren as well as a few others in the area club, but those were 1st Gen.

I have spoken with him regarding a MINI dyno event in the past. He has two fixed locations in MA, answers his phone and responds quickly to emails and messages.
