Riss Racing

Was browsing Craigslist looking for wheels for the MINI and came across a guy thats about an hour and a half or so away from me that is selling his complete Riss Racing turboback exhaust with coated catless downpipe for $450. Just wondering what peoples opinions are on this setup and whether its a good deal or not. I know all about whats needed to run a catless DP, so that'll probably wait to be installed, but the rest of the exhaust I can bolt to the factory DP.

I used to have this system, got back a full refund from Riss Racing before they went belly up, and never looked back. The problem with it is the drone and it sounds really bad. When you pass through 3500rpm+ it sounds like someone is playing a tuba in your boot. The downpipe and catback also don't fit together well at all at the v-band clamp.

I have their DP that I am about to change out and part with for a $100. It is alright. I just didn't like the fact that the bracket snapped.

So it's seems that from both of y'all's impressions, my money is better spent with saving and buying the Invidia like I originally wanted, and sourcing a DP on down the road.

Their exhaust is crap. Oh btw I forgot to mention the o2 bung in their DP was about 1/2 in in the wrong place requiring a modification to the heatshield.

I have the Riss racing downpipe and absolutely love it. Paired with a factory JCW exhaust it makes the best sounding system I've heard yet from a MINI.

I have a Riss cat-less DP as well. So far it's been problem free. I have heard the same with regard to their exhaust systems. Based on that I'd say avoid the entire exhaust but if you find a DP alone they usually sell for a good price.

Did you install the DP yourself?

Yessir! It's not too bad honestly, the heat shield is the hardest part and that's not all THAT bad. The only thing I would suggest is getting a new gasket between the asap and the turbo. You can get one at the dealer or online for pretty cheap

Its a pretty easy install. About 2-3 hours to install. Just remove the heat shields and drop the pipe in. Also make sure to replace the gaskets and the v-band.

Why not buy the catless dp from way motor works for $300 if you are in the market for a catless? http://www.waymotorworks.com/wmw-cat...8-r59-r60.html
