Drivetrain Prolonged exposure to P2096 fault Code
Prolonged exposure to P2096 fault Code
I picked up an O2 sensor adapter from WMW to try to stop my Alta header from throwing Code P2096-Post Catalyst Fuel Trim System Too Lean (Bank 1) The check engine light went off and stayed off for approx. 350 miles and then came back on. I just did a code scan and P2096 came up, I cleared the code but expect the 'check engine' light to come back on as it has been on more than off since I installed the Alta header a few years ago.
Any suggestions on getting the P2096 code to stay off?
Is the P2096 code going to cause any long term engine damage?
I have a 2006 MCS with Alta Header with newer MagnaFlow CAT (that's is the same as what Alta originally used), Borla cat-back, 15% pulley, JCW 380 fuel injectors, Craven CAI, etc.
I do not notice any performance issues but it sure nice not to see that stupid light on.
thanks for any info!

I would have a closer look at that header. That gasket failure may well be the cause of the code, considering that the O2 sensor bung is too close to the flange, but have a look at the collector welds. See any cracks? I wouldn't be surprised if there's another cause for that code
