Besides wheels and tires and weight reduction who can document improvement in engine performance with mods they have done. And I'm not asking if you are selling. Cooper owners and drivers only....

Oh, my bad, I thought you were asking about the MC, not the MC and the MCS.

Engine wise, I have only done the MINI Madness (aka Rogue) MCS air intake. It is noticable, but I haven't been on a dyno, so I don't have the independent documentation I know you (and the rest of us) seek. The horsepower gain may be there, but its not nearly as noticable as the increase in the supercharger whine when you get on the gas. Also, the intake smoothed out power delivery (2nd gear in particular) and improved throttle response.

I installed it just before the trip to Canada back in August. My MINI had 7600 miles at that point, and now it has 13900, so 6300 miles with no problems to report. It's obviously not a long term test report, but it is probably one of the highest (if not the highest) mileages with an aftermarket air intake on a MINI at this point.

Look for more this winter, I'll probably do the exhaust, and if someone comes out with ECU chipping at a sane price, I'll do that as well. I know a couple people talking about polishing the head, and one person who's going to do cams.

Give it a little time. It's the story of MINI ownership really, anticipation, waiting, satisfaction when you finally get your car, then more anticipation and waiting for the aftermarket to catch up.

Thanks Dave.....and this post is intended for Cooper and Cooper S owners
so we can get some independent opinions. There seems to be a lot of stuff
out there and I think it is useful to have user information.
BTW Dave....do you have the NAV....I'd love to see your average speed
posted as I'm sure the Colorado State Police would be as well

here is some actual data, make of it what you will:

i have installed the electronic Autometer ultralite boost/vac gauge which will retain the peak reading. in stock configuration, i got 11psi boost, max, at redline, pulling hard in 2nd gear, WOT, 70 degree ambient.

changes: rogue induction, rogue cat-back exhaust, ECU chip: now i'm getting 13.5psi boost, air temp today was 55.

yippee!

An increase in supercharger boost by 2.5 pounds. Probablly a 0.4 second improvement in quartermile. Just a guess, but at the flywheel, typical intake/exhaust/chip gains would put you near 200hp...maybe 180ish at the wheels.

Not yet. Or not that I've seen. There's one or two tuners working on one(supposedly). I've been waiting myself. Pulleys make a big enough difference off the line. One of the major quirks to work out with the 'S' models. So I can't believe that no one has come out with something yet. A whole pulley kit would be nice. Or even just the blower pulley.

HELP...

I am a CVT Mini Cooper owner and Diver and a vender as well. But, really a researcher/developer of Cooper performance mods.

So, does this mean that I can not talk about my ported and milled head, my new High profile cam, the fact that I gasket matched both intake and exhaust ports, added a new cat back system. Thus not allowing me to talk about my dyno results once I get them and the fact that I can now get over 110 mph in 5 gear, to include the researcha and development for pully new pully/ecu combination upgrade for the "S", because of a possible conflict of interests with the readers of this board.

hey Diamini,

Tell us all about your modifications! Or post a link to your own website...

I think you can post whatever info you want here, as long as it isn't intended as an advertisement.. and you can post those in the "marketplace" forum

No--I'd like to hear. I understand the guy's point. Some folks aren't up-front about the fact that they sell something they're giving props to. You're way ahead just being clear and letting people make up their own minds. Some of my favorite vendors actually post their whole development process on-line. Kind of gives you a feel for the time and care they put into their stuff.

So let's hear it! Whadja find?

Jeff
